Over the summer, The King’s Point Fire Department finally received our long awaited $52 000 cascade system. This new system now allows us to fill our SCBA tanks in house without needing to travel to Springdale. Although our department worked hard to fundraise for this system, it would not have been possible without the generous donations from some local organizations and businesses. We would also like to send a sincere thank you to The Sounds Like Christmas band for donating a portion of the proceeds from multiple events and to the Town of King’s Point for their generous donation as well. Also, a big thank-you to K&D Pratt for their guidance in purchasing the new system and for installing it.
As we mentioned, this achievement is entirely credited to the local businesses in our area. For 8 years, our department advocated for provincial funding for this upgrade. Unfortunately, both political parties failed to support our department's application to help fund this basic safety need.
When the provincial government failed to provide, our community and surrounding communities stepped in to help. Because of their generosity, our firefighters have the equipment they need to do their jobs safely.
