Who would have ever imagined that the old GM Cami Gym would one day receive nearly 5,000 lbs of food every single week - all to help nourish community members through the charities that serve them?

We did 💚

The FOOD Project was born when a group of dedicated volunteers, already deeply involved with food-focused charities in Ingersoll, noticed a shared reality across organizations:
• Limited storage space
• Challenges recruiting volunteers
• Competition for limited grant funding

But they also noticed something more powerful - an incredible group of people united by the same mission: building a stronger, more caring community for everyone.

And so, the FOOD Project came to life.

With the support of The Rotary Club of Ingersoll, this once-unused space was transformed into a clean, safe, and reliable food storage facility. Through collaboration with our partner and associate charities and funders, we’ve turned this vision into a fully functioning hub that supports food access across our community.

Today marked another exciting milestone! Thanks to Freeman Mechanical our 3-compartment sink, washer, and dryer were installed - bringing us one step closer to being fully operational. With proper shelving as our final immediate need, we’re almost there!

What a moment! 🙌

Today, FOOD Project volunteers moved their very first food rescue pickup into our new walk-in fridge and freezer - and the joy and relief were unmistakable, even through the lens.

This is what progress looks like. These incredible volunteers truly make magic happen, and thanks to our expanded cold storage, we can now rescue and store more food than ever before.

That means more support for our partner charities and one powerful step closer to ensuring no one in Oxford goes hungry. 💙

• Support the project so we can rescue even more food

Together, we are building a stronger, more food-secure Oxford County.

The day we’ve been waiting for is finally here! 🎉

Installation of our walk-in fridge and freezer is officially underway! This game-changing upgrade will increase our cold storage capacity tenfold, allowing us to accept more donations, rescue more food, and keep even more local kitchens stocked through our outreach programs.

These units are expected to be up and running by early January, and we can’t wait to give you a tour of the fully organized and furnished warehouse once everything is complete. Stay tuned - exciting things are happening! ❄️🥕
