A safe, caring, and healing community for people affected by cancer.

4-day retreats, 3-day retreats, a local quilt initiative, and online programs for people living with cancer and their support person. Located in the Haliburton Highlands on a beautiful property surrounded by forests and ponds, we provide a variety of in-person and online retreats and programs for those with cancer and their love

d ones. The retreats offer rest and renewal, companionship, and an introduction to practices that help soothe, strengthen and restore the body, mind and soul in the midst of a cancer experience. Time in nature, restorative yoga, massage, expressive arts, delicious and nutritious food, music, and group conversation are all elements of what make our retreats unique and transformative. We offer these supports at no cost to participants, recognizing there are already many increased expenses for individuals and families facing cancer.

On retreat, we eat each meal together (all participants and facilitators). These meals are lovingly prepared by a team of kitchen volunteers who assist our Head Chef in preparing and serving nourishing and delicious whole-food meals and snacks for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"The environment, healthy nourishing food, meaningful activities and conversations all contributed to a very special time away to recharge, reflect and re-engage with ourselves and those around us." - Kathleen

This team is integral to the retreat experience. And WOW do they cook delicious food! Thank you to these wonderful volunteers! We couldn’t do it without you.

📣 Come learn more about a NEW cancer support program for people in the Haliburton Highlands living with cancer and/or caregiving for someone living with cancer. Also learn about other important support services available in Haliburton County!

For the second part of Sept 17 gathering, we'll host our Compassionate Hearts Cancer Circle and Caregiver Circle. If you would like to get a taste of one of these circles, please know that you are welcome to join in.

You don’t need to have been part of Compassionate Hearts to attend.

This program was created by local residents with lived experience of cancer, in partnership with Brooksong Retreat & Cancer Support Centre and Haliburton Highlands Health Services

Every 3rd Thursday of the month, people living with cancer and people caring for people living with cancer gather at Brooksong's centre and participate in two separate facilitated support groups.

To register or learn more, please call or email Ashley or Barb ( see poster).

This program is offered free-of-cost thanks to a Haliburton County Development Corporation LIP Grant. Thank you !

We’re blown away by the support Brooksong has received this summer. From fundraisers and events to donations, conversations and so many other ways of showing up for Brooksong, it has been such a fun couple of months.

And the best part? We’re not quite finished yet.

Our donation portal (www.brooksongfundraiser.com) will remain open until September 30.

So… how far past our goal can we go? We can’t wait to find out!

Two Brooksong Alumni and Brooksong’s Operations Coordinator with her two children planted a new native species garden in Brooksong’s backyard, creating a beautiful space for participants and guests while also supporting local wildlife.

Native plants provide important food and habitat for pollinators, birds and other wildlife, while adding beauty and a sense of place to the spaces we share at Brooksong. We’re grateful for the generosity, time and care that went into creating this new garden and to Cara, Bas and Dianne for sharing their knowledge and advice along the way. We look forward to watching it grow and become part of the Brooksong landscape.

Thank you, Cheryl, Erica, Maryssa, N and O, for helping make Brooksong’s backyard an even more welcoming place for people and a healthier habitat for the creatures who share it with us.
