The Ontario Ministry of Mines has asked USW 6500 for feedback on Ontario Mining, so let's give it to them. Now is our chance to make sure they hear loud and clear that Occupational Disease prevention and worker protection in the industry must be the next major priority in Ontario legislation.
Too many workers have sacrificed their health simply for doing their jobs. Families have lost loved ones. Others continue battling workplace illnesses years after exposure. This cannot continue.
We are asking every member, every family member, every friend, and every supporter to take 30 seconds to send an email directly to the government. It's simple

📢 Let Ontario know: protecting critical mineral workers from occupational disease cannot wait.

Please help us make this go viral. Every voice matters. Every message counts.

USW Local 6500 members have ratified a historic new collective agreement with Vale.

The agreement delivers significant gains for workers and their families, including guaranteed wage increases, a $4,000 signing bonus, paid sick days, pension improvements and enhanced benefits.

Congratulations to the bargaining committee and membership whose solidarity and determination helped secure these historic gains.

Today is Injured Worker's day. On June 1, 1983 thousands of injured workers showed up on the lawn on Queen's Park to protest proposed changes by the government. They won their fight. Fast forward over 40 years later, and the WSIB is up to it's old tricks. They continue to leave injured workers behind while rewarding Ontario's employers with billions of dollars in rebates. We will continue to fight for every worker, because an injury to one, is an injury to all ✊
