GCG welcomes guest artist, Peggy Sloan, to the gallery for the month of June.
Join us for an Opening Reception on Sat. June 6, 2-4pm.

Born and raised in the small farming community of Walton, Ontario, in the heart of
Huron County, my connection to the natural world has been a lifelong source of inspiration. Growing up surrounded by open landscapes and ever-changing skies fostered a deep appreciation for nature’s quiet beauty and subtle transformations.

Photography has been a lifelong passion and creative practice through which I explore presence, perspective, and connection. I am continually drawn to the fleeting moments that often go unnoticed—the shifting quality of light, the movement of weather across a landscape, and the unique energy held within a single moment in time.

My work combines technical exploration with an intuitive awareness of the world around us. Through experimentation with shutter speed, aperture, composition, and light, I seek to capture not only what is seen, but what is felt. I am fascinated by how a familiar landscape can be transformed through changing conditions, perspective, and emotion, revealing new layers of beauty with each encounter.

After more than 28 years as an educator, my creative journey has been shaped by both life experience and a deep belief in reflection and growth. Photography has
become a meaningful way to express my connection to nature and to share moments of stillness, wonder, and renewal.

Through my work, I hope to invite viewers to pause, reflect, and experience a sense of peace and inner tranquility through the quiet power of the natural world.

Denise Dalton shares space with sister, Bridget Van Osch, as a Visiting Artist at GCG for the month of May. OPENING RECEPTION will held on Sat. May 9, 2pm-4pm.

Denise Dalton's love of the creative arts goes back as far as she can remember — from colouring geography maps in grade school to designing fantastical clothing and futuristic houses as a teenager, before finally falling in love with painting. Her formal training came during a year at the University of Windsor, where she focused on foundational drawing techniques, and she has been teaching herself ever since. After years of limited output and a full working life, retirement gave her the freedom to return to her easel.

She has explored acrylics and watercolour but always finds her way back to oils. Her
subjects range from local scenery to the awe-inspiring landscapes of the northern
wilderness, and she also relishes the challenge of portraiture — working across styles
from realism and impressionism to abstraction and even surrealism. She paints now
purely for pleasure and finds joy in the happiness her paintings bring to those who
receive them.

"In one sense I am glad of the trajectory I followed with regard to my artwork. I sometimes think that to paint for a living, while a marvelous pursuit, would have been too stressful for me. I have profound admiration for artists who have chosen this path. To be truthful, the “in between” times of little artistic output allowed me to pursue other interests, all of which, I believe, have enriched my artwork."

Bridget VanOsch will share space with sister, Denise Dalton, as our visiting artist at GCG for the month of May. OPENING RECEPTION on Sat. May 9th, 2pm - 4pm.

Bridget Van Osch's artistic journey has been shaped by a full and busy life. Raising seven children on a large rural property left little time for hobbies, and it was only about six years ago that she finally opened the beginner's oil painting kit her late husband had gifted her years before. Learning as she went, she embraced the process wholeheartedly — experimenting her way through a dozen brushes per session to find just the right effect. Her work reflects a deep love of the landscape around her, from the beauty of the local countryside to the tranquility of backcountry camping with her family. Rooted in realism, her paintings carry the quiet observation of someone who has lived closely with the land.

"I use a few less brushes now and my painting time has picked up as I become more
comfortable working with oil paints, which is a good thing, as I now juggle my time between still maintaining my large property but also looking after grandchildren at least three days a week. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Life is good!"
