Optimist Club Halton Hills

Optimist Club Halton Hills The Optimist Club of Halton Hills is a local service club geared towards helping youth. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

The Optimist Club of Halton Hills is part of the Optimist International association. More than 2,900 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicate themselves to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids." Adult volunteers join Optimist Clubs to conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their positive attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young p

eople to be the best that they can be. Each Optimist Club determines the needs of the young people in its community and conducts programs to meet those needs. THE OPTIMIST CREED

Promise Yourself-

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. In 1922, the Optimist Creed was adopted as the official creed of the organization. The Optimist Creed was developed by Christian D. Larson. Some of the local Halton Hills community-based youth programs, events, activities or groups that The Optimist Club of Halton Hills has provided either through volunteering or funding support for over the years have included:

A Little Bit Country at Our Recent Dinner Meeting!

You never quite know what to expect at an Optimist event! Our recent dinner meeting brought a full western theme to the hall, and everyone jumped right into the spirit of the evening.

From adopting new cowboy and cowgirl names to enjoying some friendly competition, it was a fantastic night. A huge thank you to Diane, who did an amazing job decorating and completely "country-fying" the hall, and to Chef Brandon for a meal that was, as always, delicious.

The western fun wrapped up with a lively round of Cowboy Bingo. Congratulations to Cheryl on taking home the win!

Member Spotlight: Tyson Pedersen

The highlight of the evening was presenting our Take-a-Chance Spotlight to one of our newest members, Tyson Pedersen! Tyson chose to join our club this year and has already stepped up to serve as a director on our board for the coming year. We are incredibly fortunate to have Tyson on our team and look forward to the fresh perspectives he will bring to our upcoming youth programmes.

Thank you to all the members and guests who came out to make the evening such a success!

Now Booking Poker Fundraisers for the 2026–2027 Season!

Are you looking for a proven way to raise money for your local youth group or sports team? The Optimist Club of Halton Hills is now accepting bookings for our monthly Poker Fundraiser Nights running from September 2026 through May 2027.

Our tournament format is a highly effective fundraising tool. Thanks to our dedicated players and community support, our poker fundraisers have donated over $15,000 back to local youth sports teams and organizations since September 2025 alone.

We handle the venue, licensing, tournament management, and the bar. Your group simply recruits players, provides the food, and reaps the financial rewards. Interested in securing a date for your team?

Spaces are limited each month. Send us a DM today to get more information on guidelines, availability, and how to get your fundraiser on our upcoming schedule!

What you need to know for next week:

▪️Save your cards: Please keep all of your TVBingo cards from this week. They remain valid.

▪️Game plan: Next Tuesday, we will pick up exactly where we left off and resume play, starting with Game 1.

▪️Double the fun: We will be playing both this week's saved cards and next week's scheduled cards during the broadcast.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. Stay safe, and we look forward to playing a full schedule with you next week!

Victoria Day Long Weekend Jackpot: $1,250!

The jackpot continues to climb just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend! Since the big prize went unclaimed last week, with one player missing by only a single number, the total pot for this Thursday, May 14, is now $1,250.

☑️The Ultimate BBQ Host: You could buy enough premium steaks and local asparagus to feed the entire neighbourhood and probably a new grill to cook them on.

☑️Gas Tank Hero: Fill up the car and head to the cottage without even looking at the price on the pump.

☑️Garden Upgrade: Finally buy those fancy self-watering planters or enough annuals to make your yard the envy of the street.

☑️Local Splurge: Treat the whole family to a local restaurant and still have plenty left over for a summer road trip.

Celebrating our "Behind the Scenes" Member: Ever Welsh

The Optimist Club of Halton Hills recently had the pleasure of officially recognizing a member who truly keeps our wheels turning. We are thrilled to present the Behind the Scenes Award to Ever Welsh.

As many of our members and neighbours know, Ever is a driving force behind the success of our weekly Hall Bingo and works tirelessly to ensure our hall remains up and running for the community. This award recognizes contributions that happen quietly and without the need for attention but make a massive difference in how our club operates.

Ever, thank you for your attention to detail, your follow-through, and your unwavering support. You make everything run smoothly, and we are lucky to have you on the team!
