🇨🇦🏕️ The Adventure Begins!

Today we received our official Canadian Contingent gear for the 2026 Iceland National Scout Jamboree!

This summer, members of 1st Glen Abbey Scouts will have the incredible opportunity to travel to Iceland and join Scouts from around the world for a once-in-a-lifetime international Scouting experience.

The Iceland National Jamboree brings together thousands of youth and leaders from different countries to camp, learn, explore, and build friendships that cross borders.

Receiving our Canadian Contingent gear today made the journey feel a little more real, and we can't wait to share our preparations and adventures with our Scouting community over the coming year.

❤️ Giving Back to Our Community

Tonight, the Scouts of 1st Glen Abbey Oakville came together to sort donations and assemble hygiene kits for SafetyNet.

Thanks to the generosity of our Scout families, we were able to put together dozens of kits filled with essential items that will help support members of the homeless community right here in Oakville.

The Scouts worked together to organize supplies, pack the kits, and prepare them for delivery. It was a great reminder that Scouting is not only about outdoor adventure, but also about helping others and making a difference in our community.

We are incredibly proud of our Scouts and grateful to all the families who donated items and supported this initiative.

This week, the kits will be delivered to SafetyNet, where they will help those who need them most.

🍁 Happy Ontario Day! 🍁

Today we celebrate the province we call home — a place filled with diverse communities, beautiful parks and trails, incredible lakes, and endless opportunities for adventure.

At 1st Glen Abbey Oakville, we're proud to help young people explore everything Ontario has to offer, from camping under the stars and paddling our waterways to building leadership skills and lifelong friendships.

Here's to the people, places, and communities that make Ontario strong, welcoming, and unique.

Most youth programs give kids a schedule. We give them a compass.

There's a real difference between a program that keeps kids busy and one that builds something in them. Navigation, problem-solving, leading a group when the trail gets hard - that's not on any classroom syllabus.

1st Glen Abbey has been doing this in Oakville for years. The adventures are real. The leaders are trained. The kids remember it for life.

What an incredible day for 1st Glen Abbey Oakville!

Despite the cold, rain, and soaking wet uniforms, our Scouts showed exactly what Scouting is all about — resilience, leadership, teamwork, and spirit. 🌧️⚜️

Today at the Youth Recognition Ceremony, 1st Glen Abbey truly shined across every level of the program:

🏅 Chief Scout Award
🏅 Queen’s Venturer Award
🏅 Canadian Rover Scout Award

These awards represent years of hard work, adventure, service, leadership, and dedication from our youth and leaders alike. We could not be prouder of everyone who stood out there today smiling through the rain and supporting one another.

🚀 Big moment for 1st Glen Abbey Oakville today!

During the Scouts Canada Q2 All-Member Town Hall, our troop was featured as a local success story for innovation and youth leadership.

What started as an idea to build a stronger online presence became a youth-led project using creativity and AI tools to create:

🌐 A new troop website
📸 Social media content
🎥 Scout-created videos
🎒 Camping resources and parent guides
🤖 New ways to organize and manage our troop

This wasn’t about replacing real Scouting experiences — it was about giving youth new tools to bring their ideas to life. We’ve focused on using AI responsibly while keeping what matters most: real adventures, real photos, and real Scout experiences.

A huge shoutout to Dasha, Julian, Owen, and Weston for helping lead the charge and showing what youth innovation can look like.

We’re incredibly proud to see 1st Glen Abbey recognized nationally and excited to keep building for the future of Scouting. ⚜️
