On Saturday, October 24, the annual Poppy Campaign launched by the Royal Canadian Legion Canada wide.

Cadets are to wear their poppies on their uniforms from that date to November 11th. Pictured is MCpl. S. Khan, Cpl. L. Lucas & Cpl. M. Cameron showing the proper way to wear a poppy in FTU.

Special thanks to Royal Canadian Legion Br. 297 for providing #2403 with enough poppies for all our cadets! Poppies will be handed out this Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, October 13 2026, a special presentation was made to two of our senior cadets. In 2024, the Murray Whetung Community Service Award Act was passed into law which is a Provincial honour for Ontario. The award is administered by the Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, the award recognizes exceptional citizenship and volunteerism. It is presented annually to one eligible cadet from each local squadron or corps across three branches.

The 2025 recipient for #2403 was WO C. Fitzpatrick and the 2026 recipient for #2403 was WO S. Fitzpatrick. As the award was so new, the actual coin/medallion was not available for the first two years. Now there is ample supply and cadets who earn this prestigious award will be presented with their medallion/coin as well as their certificate which these two cadets already received with their initial awards.

Presenting the coins is former #2403 Commanding Officer (and now Area Elemental Advisor) Maj. S. McDonald who was present for the evenings merit review boards. Congratulations once again to WO C. Fitzpatrick & WO S. Fitzpatrick for this honour and recognition. Who will #2403's 2027 recipient be? We shall find out at the 2027 Awards Night ceremony!
