Imagine an Okanagan summer where our healthy lakes are out of balance.🌊❌

If invasive zebra, quagga, or golden mussels take over, they’ll ruin the very things that make living here so special. When they die, invasive mussels can release toxic bacteria, turning the water green and murky, and making it unsafe for pets or wildlife to drink.

Whether you're moving a watercraft between lakes or just packing up the family beach gear, always remember to Clean. Drain. Dry. every single time and follow the Responsible Recreation Checklist.

World Water day is ONE WEEK AWAY! What will you do to support Mother Nature and her water sources in your community? Ideas:

🌊 Clean up garbage from the beach, parks, streets, etc.
🌊 Conserve the amount of water you use when showering, doing dishes, etc.
🌊 Remind others of World Water Day by making a post, speaking about it at work / school / events
🌊 Get involved with a local committee for keeping water clean in your area

In exactly one week, the siwɬkʷ Water and Climate Forum will bring together Indigenous leaders, local government representatives, researchers, scientists, regional and international water experts, and community partners in recognition of World Water Day. 💧

This is an event you won’t want to miss. Help us defend water - cold, clean, and flowing for ALL living things.
