In 2019 we travelled back to NYC to meet and adopt Chance, after successfully adopting Hudson (2015) and Lola (2017). Between the time he came on our radar to the time we arrived at the shelter his status changed from adoptable to "rescue-only". We were heartbroken that he could not be saved. It is important to remember that a dog's behaviour in the shelter system does not accurately predict their

behaviour on the outside. And the fact that they are "shelter dogs" does not dictate how they will fit into a home.

Not the news we were hoping for...Artie had an accident at his foster home, and although we crossed fingers & toes that it was a sprain or dislocation, it is actually a break 😔 His back leg is being put in a cast that he will wear for the next 6 weeks; this will give him the best chance of making a full recovery. Right now we are asking for help with this unexpected expense. Tomorrow we will also be posting for an emergency foster placement - somewhere calm & quiet where he can heal.

Our community is amazing and consistently shows up for our pups most in need. Thank you for the support 🙏

UPDATE: Flight companion found for these 3!

We are still looking for a flight companion from Winnipeg to Ottawa! Our last two plans have fallen through and these babies have spent many weeks waiting for intake. If you are travelling on a WESTJET flight (not Air Canada or Porter) DIRECT from Winnipeg to Ottawa in the coming weeks, please reach out to us with a private message. And please share with all your travelling family, friends & coworkers! There is no cost to you but the feeling of helping these little ones begin a new chapter is priceless ❤

These beautiful babies head off to foster homes today and I think they might be excited! We are excited for them too! For the next few weeks, Lucy & Linus will learn how to live in a home as family members...they will work on manners, leash walking, crate training, potty training, socialization (they LOVE people) and all the other fun things that go along with puppies. Thank you to their foster families for offering a safe spot!

Update: Emmie has a meeting lined up and we are hopeful they are her forever people 😊

Most of the pups have approved applications and meet & greets lined up, but for some reason, Emmie is not one of them! This little one is the smallest but spunkiest of the siblings. This is what her foster momma has to say:
Emmie is doing really well. She is probably the smartest puppy I have had the opportunity to work with. She is quick to pick up what we are asking of her. She follows Freya (her adult boxer foster sister) around like a puppy in love. She is very intrigued by all living things but especially toads and crickets.
We met some folks at the Metcalfe Farmers Market yesterday. She is very calm meeting new people. She often sits to be pet.
She is such a pleasure.
