We offer 24/7 crisis support, safety planning, case management, anticipator information & referral.

Victim Services is an inclusive service that supports a diverse range of victims and their families. In the philosophy of a no wrong door policy, Victim Services administers the provision of services to victims, and facilitates victim service programs. We provide education, information about the criminal justice system, crime prevention strategies, practical help, emotional first aid, advocacy and referrals. We take the leadership role, in developing partnerships, to build and maintain healthier communities.

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and acknowledge the lasting impacts on Indigenous families and communities.

At Victim Services, we recognize that meaningful support begins with listening, understanding, and compassion. We remain committed to learning and to providing trauma-informed, culturally respectful support to those we serve.

Today and every day, we encourage our community to listen to Indigenous voices, reflect on the truths of our shared history, and continue the journey toward reconciliation.

As we celebrate Canada Day and the communities that make up our country, we also reflect on the realities that continue to affect Indigenous peoples across Canada. Indigenous women and girls represent less than 5% of Canada’s female population, yet account for approximately half of victims of human trafficking identified in Canada and are three times more likely to experience violent victimization than non-Indigenous women. Indigenous peoples are also significantly overrepresented in the justice system, accounting for approximately one-third of individuals in federal custody despite representing only about 5% of the Canadian population.

These disparities reflect the ongoing impacts of colonialism, systemic inequities, and barriers to safety and justice. This Canada Day, we recognize our shared responsibility to listen, learn, and support meaningful action toward reconciliation, healing, and equitable access to justice for all communities.
