EducationMatters is excited that Suncor is renewing their Energizing Youth investment for another year, strengthening pathways from classroom to career through their support of dual credit programs and skills competitions for Calgary Board of Education students.

Suncor has generously invested $350,000 for this initiative to remove financial barriers, inspire students to pursue high-demand careers and support hands-on learning. This investment also helps fund EducationMatters' annual backpacks campaign and essentials for learning.

“We are grateful Suncor has renewed their commitment to make career exploration opportunities even more accessible for CBE students,” said Stephanie Washbrook, Executive Director of EducationMatters.

Calgary Board of Education Class of 2027! Here's your first chance to apply for student awards this year.

Applications for the Laurie Sommerville Scholarship, Breakthrough Opportunity Bursary, and Stampede Toyota Community Matters Scholarship are now open. Students have until Dec. 4 to submit their applications for these awards.

🔨 It's Alberta Apprenticeship Day! 🔨

Today, we’re celebrating the skills, talent and possibilities that come from learning by doing.

Thanks in part to EducationMatters funding, Calgary Board of Education students can access dual credit programs that provide hands-on experiences while earning high school and post-secondary credits.

From carpentry to automotive, welding and more, our donors help students explore careers and opportunities that can open doors to their futures.

When we invest in skills, we invest in what’s possible. 💙

Donor gifts provide fundamental necessities for students and families experiencing financial insecurity or hardship.

As part of EducationMatters' support for Essentials for Learning, we supply hygiene items to Calgary Board of Education students and schools, providing dignity to students who cannot afford deodorant, feminine hygiene supplies, shampoo, toothbrushes and paste, and basic grooming items.

The Investing in the Future Award is a scholarship of $100,000 given to ten Calgary Board of Education students who are pursuing post-secondary education. This is the fourth year an anonymous donor has funded this remarkable award!

EducationMatters’ Grants and Student Awards Officer, Kathy, recorded a few of the conversations she had with some of the Investing winners earlier this summer.

📚It's International Literacy Day, a time to celebrate the power of literacy to open doors, build confidence and broaden our imaginations.

From classroom resources and learning experiences to the essentials students need to succeed, EducationMatters helps Calgary Board of Education students build their literacy skills and confidence.
