Wood’s Homes is a multi-service, non-profit children’s mental health centre based in Calgary. Our over 600 staff and volunteers help provide 40+ programs and services for 20,000 children and their families each year in Calgary, Lethbridge, Strathmore and Fort McMurray.

Today we were joined by Emma Waller, Manager of the Calgary Flames Foundation, to kick off construction for our brand new sports court at our Parkdale Campus!

Thanks to a $300,000 commitment from the Calgary Flames Foundation, this court is part of our Through it ALL campaign and will provide students at our William Taylor Learning Centre as well as other youth on campus the opportunity for outdoor leisure and athletics in a newly renovated space. 🏀

Urgent need‼️ Extreme heat can be life-threatening, especially for young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

This summer, we're providing hot-weather care kits, hydration, cooling spaces, and critical support to help keep vulnerable youth safe, and you can help make a difference by donating any of the following items:

☀️Bottled water or electrolyte drinks
☀️Sunscreen
☀️Hats
☀️Non-perishable snacks
☀️Gift cards

Every bottle of water, every care kit, and every donation helps ensure no young person has to face the heat alone.

From July 9th to July 26th, Ray's No Frills Lethbridge North is running our Give a Little, Help A Lot campaign. We are collecting donations for one of our local charities Wood's Homes whom we've been supporting for nearly 3 years now. Wood's Homes provides safe, temporary shelter for those under 18 to stay amid crises or family conflict. Offering basic needs, mental health, family and resource support. Yesterday, the students from our Youth Culinary Arts Program (YCAP) had the incredible opportunity to show off their skills centre stage at Taste of Stampede!

The challenge? To elevate a Calgary Stampede midway food. 👀

They made Pulled pork croquette (with pulled pork sandwiches), barley risotto and corn veloute, as well as deconstructed mille-feuille with mini donuts, pastry cream, berry compote, and jalapeño honey drizzle.

Would you eat it? We sure would! 🙋
