Imagine being a girl with dreams of becoming a doctor, a teacher, an entrepreneur or something you haven't even discovered yet.

Imagine wanting to continue your education, explore your interests and figure out the kind of life you want to build.

And suddenly those choices are taken away before you've had the chance to grow up.

This is why ending child marriage matters.

Every girl deserves the chance to experience childhood, access education, develop her abilities and have a say in her future.

Families, communities, schools and leaders all have a role to play in protecting girls and making sure they have opportunities to thrive.

Today, on the International Day of the Girl Child, let's ask ourselves: are we creating a world where girls can shape their own futures, or one where their futures are decided for them?
