RCACC 3133 sends a heartfelt goodbye and best wishes to Cadet Master Warrant Officer Victor Hesslegrave as he ages out of the Cadet Program, celebrating his 19th birthday.
From mirror shining his parade boots to recieving his Canadian Forces Basic Parachutist's qualification in summer 2024, MWO Hesslegrave has spent the past seven years with the Cadet Program accomplishing whatever he set his mind to do. Always maintaining a high level of physical fitness, Hesslegrave has advanced to regional level competitions in both biathlon and marksmanship, subsequently being presented with the corps level award for Most Fit of 2024, 2025, and 2026. As a Distinguished Marksman, he received the First Commanding Officer's Award for Top Marksmanship Shot of 2023, 2025, and 2026. He was also recognized with the Award of Dedication in 2024, and the Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence in 2025.
Another highlight has been the challenge of participating in both Petawawa and Storm the Giant Regional Army Cadet Expeditions. A qualified Mountain Bike Instructor, Hesslegrave attended Blackdown CTC in summer 2025 as staff for the Expedition Team Member Course. ๐ต
More recently, he has served as the corps' Drum Major, leading the band on parade and encouraging them, as well as other cadets, to achieve excellence for themselves, striving to be the best they can be.
His parade boots will be difficult to fill, and his presence will be missed at 3133, but we wish him all the best for the future, as he transfers from being a valuable asset to the corps and Cadet Program, to that of the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, where he plans to become a Materials Technician this fall.
