Meet Cooper ✨🖤🤎

Cooper is a gentle soul with a quiet nature. While the world still feels a little overwhelming, this handsome boy is steadily building his confidence and discovering that good things can happen when you step out of your comfort zone. 🎉

For now, Cooper is content in a calm environment where he can take things at his own pace. He just might be “an autumn” since he appreciates having a cozy spot to relax in. 🍂 When the mood strikes, he welcomes slow, little ear scratches from someone he trusts. (Having a Churru in your hand sure helps, too!) Every day brings small victories, and we’re proud of how he’s getting a little braver with each passing week. 🥹🦁

Cooper came in with his brother, Oliver, and his sisters, Josie and Tori. Oliver has enjoyed socializing since the start and sister Josie has begun to love attention from anyone who comes her way. These two show that all cats can thrive when given patience and understanding. We have every reason to believe that Cooper’s turn is just around the corner. ⤵️

Cooper is looking for a quiet, loving home that will celebrate his progress and allow him the time he needs to truly shine. With a little patience and a lot of love, this sweet boy is sure to reward his family with a bond that is well worth the wait. 😻

One of the major reasons rescues across the board are experiencing a higher number of surrenders (and are so incredibly full) is the lack of accessible pet-friendly housing. We see it every month: families unable to secure a home that accepts every member, even the four-legged and furry ones.

We want to help families stay together, and we bet you do, too. With a municipal election coming up in October, it’s important to make your voice heard.

The Winnipeg Humane Society’s report on pet-inclusive housing (with recommendations to government) has been sent to all current councillors - we are asking for a policy requiring all housing developments receiving municipal funds to provide pet-friendly options for a minimum of 50% of the housing units.

We love Nelson House. 💖

So many amazing dog owners live there but they still have a ways to go for responsible dog ownership. This is such a great community announcement.

We see them trying and we are so proud. I have utter faith that community-led dog management with respectable outside resources supporting them is the key to our success.

If you want to stop dog shoots while keeping the community safe, it’s important to tackle the roaming dog issue from a health and safety point of view.

Meet Seven✨🤎🖤7️⃣

Seven came to us after losing his owner. 💔However, he has shown nothing but resilience and kindness in his foster home. 🏡🥹

Seven is the kind of dog who quietly makes a house feel like a home. He’s a calm, gentle, and friendly guy who simply enjoys being near his people. He is very affectionate, and will ask for pets by presenting you with his paw or nudging you with his nose. *boop* 😍

His foster has noted that: “he prefers to use the bathroom on walks, as opposed to going in the yard, and he will always let you know when he needs to get out for a stroll. Sev walks well on a leash and has wonderful house manners. He’s always happy to go for a car ride and is a master at catching treats. He doesn’t have much interest in toys, but enjoys bones. This guy is 83 pounds of love on four legs and I can’t say enough about what a sweet and gentle personality he has.”

He gets along well with, and seems to enjoy the company of, other dogs. Check out the video in this post as evidence of this! (It was quite heart-warming to see him running around the yard at the shelter having a great time with some new dog friends! ☺️❤️)
