this past wednesday some of our firefighter’s helped partake in the yearly ‘McHappy Day’!
You may have seen them in the drive thru, collecting donations, and helping sell the McHappy Day socks to everyone!
It is a wonderful event and charity that helps immensely to those who are dealing with unfortunate events.
Thanks guys for helping out in our community and providing insight on such a fantastic event by McDonalds.

last week, station 18 firefighters conducted training on Proper Ventilation, understanding and reading smoke & fire behaviour and the proper precautions/steps to take on an emergency scene.
This was a very efficient and effective approach on how to witness first hand how it works.
There are 3 main sources needed for a fire to occur and burn. Oxygen, Fuel & Heat source.
As you can see in the photos, if one of those 3 said sources are limited or removed - it will extinguish itself.

Sometimes, you may hear about or first hand see emergency personnel on scene refraining from entering a building. This may be due to this reason above!
It is not always the best case to “break windows, open doors, etc” as it will easily give the fire more energy to continue.
Sometimes limiting the sources - the fire will “eat itself” and burn out.
If you’re ever in an emergency situation, as you exit a building (IF IT IS SAFE TO DO SO) close any door behind you as you leave. This may very well protect some of the building.

This is yet, just another scenario we are continually practicing and preparing ourselves for. When an emergency happens, seconds matter.
Keeping prepared will ensure the best possible outcome.

Its National Volunteer Firefighters Week!

Our volunteer firefighters aren’t just neighbours helping out—they are highly trained professionals who meet the exact same NFPA standards as full-time crews. They don’t just show up when it’s convenient; they:

• leave family dinners at a moment's notice

• jump out of bed for 3:00 AM calls

• step away from their "day jobs" the second the pager sounds

These individuals are the backbone of our fire services, protecting over 80% of Ontario’s geography. 🌲🚜

This , we’re looking past the gear at the people behind it. To the firefighters balancing careers, families, and the sudden ring of a pager: We see the dedication it takes to serve your community at 3:00 AM and still be at your desk by 9:00 AM.

Thank you for the commitment it takes to balance both roles. 👨‍🚒

Last night, was our bi weekly training night, and we took full advantage of the beautiful spring weather!! ☀️

the station 18 firefighters headed over to St. Annes School, to freshen up and practice stretching lines, flowing water & even took the newest recruits up the aerial 🚒

It’s always good practice to stay vigilant and ready for whenever the tools and equipment are needed to be utilized to their fullest potential in an emergency 💧 🔥

With the nice weather becoming a daily occurrence, you may see us (and the trucks) out and about on Monday evenings training more and more frequently 🧑🏽‍🚒
