CJBQ Featured Pet!

Meet Marilyn Bunroe: A Gentle Soul Learning to Shine 🌞 ❤️

Marilyn Bunroe is a Flemish Giant/Dutch mix rabbit with a sweet but sensitive nature. She is still learning to feel comfortable with handling and human interaction and can be a little flighty at times. With patience, consistency, and a calm environment, she will continue to build confidence at her own pace.

Marilyn would do best as the only bunny in a quiet home where she can feel secure and settle without added stress. Changes in environment or routine can take her time to adjust to, so she will need a patient adopter who understands her need for stability.

She absolutely loves her fresh greens, timothy hay, and fruit, and gets especially excited for forage boxes. Marilyn is also playful and enjoys tossing lightweight toys around during her active moments.

Because of her enthusiasm at mealtimes and play, she will need heavier food and water dishes that she cannot tip over.

Like all rabbits, Marilyn needs plenty of daily exercise and enrichment to stay healthy and happy. She will require a spacious area where she can run, hop, stretch, and explore every day. Enrichment activities such as forage boxes, puzzle feeders, tunnels, chew toys, and opportunities to safely investigate her surroundings help keep her mind active and prevent boredom. Providing regular exercise and enrichment will also help build her confidence and encourage her natural curiosity.

Once she feels safe and settled, Marilyn has the potential to show her curious, playful personality and become a rewarding companion for someone willing to give her the time she needs to blossom. ❤️

If you’re interested in adopting Marilyn Bunroe, you can meet her at Petsmart Belleville.

All rabbits available for adoption at HSHPE have been spayed/neutered.

Adoptions include bonus offers from our amazing partners: Nutrience, Pet Valu Belleville, and PetSmart.

All animals at HSHPE are proudly fed Nutrience.

Thank you, Nutrience, for providing the consistent, high-quality nutrition our HSHPE shelter animals rely on every day. Your support goes far beyond meeting a basic need; it directly improves outcomes for animals who often arrived stressed and malnourished. Combined with your event support, your partnership strengthens our ability to move animals from the shelter to adoption quickly and successfully. 🐾 💗 🐶

Good news deserves to be shared.
Every week, we're fortunate to witness moments of kindness, hope, and second chances. is our opportunity to celebrate those moments—and the incredible people who make them possible.

😻 Roe made her way to us as a stray who was picked up through animal control. She was treated for parasites, vaccinated and patiently waited out her stray hold. When no one came forward to claim her she was made available for adoption! Roe was scooped up by a lovely family, who celebrated a birthday the day before! Wishing you a wonderful life together, thank you for choosing adoption and a very happy birthday from all of us here!

🦋 Rosey Maple Moth was dropped off by a concerned member of the public in late May. She was suffering from ear mites, and a heavy infestation of fleas and ticks. Once she was treated, she felt relief and enjoyed a restful first night at HSHPE. Once her stray hold lapsed, this beautiful girl was booked for spay and after her appointment she met her new mom! Congratulations, and thank you for giving this lucky girl a second chance!

💛 Yuna and her litter mate were rescued by a member of the public in mid- May after being found in a crate and advertised as free. We’re beyond grateful that Yuna and her sister Rose, will have the greatest start in life because someone with a whole lot of compassion happened upon them. Yuna, now Luna is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and parasite treatment and will be loved forever and always by her pet parents. Thank you for choosing adoption!

🩷 Brenda arrived in mid May as a stray. She was in great condition, and once her stray hold was over, Brenda was booked in for her spay surgery. She recovered beautifully and here she is, ready to head home to start the best chapter of her life! Farewell, Brenda! We wish you a beautiful life!

💚 Tubby was surrendered to us in late May. A very sweet guy, who was eager to learn all sorts of things. All he needed was someone to take him on all the adventures and he has found that in his new best friend! Tubby was neutered while with us, vaccinated, treated for parasites and he’s now learning the routine in his new home and sporting a new name. Happy tails to you, Koda!

🤩 We welcomed some incredible students from Harry J Clarke yesterday to participate in our Rescue Readers program! The students brough donations for the animals, and shared stories and laughter with the many animals currently awaiting their second chance! We’re nearing the end of the school year and still have a few upcoming visits. If you’re an educator and would like to learn more about this incredible program, here’s the web address! www.humanesocietyhpe.ca/rescue-readers-program

🐾 If you haven’t heard, last Sunday’s 11th annual Wiggle Waggle Walkathon raised $82,000 for the animals in our care, our most successful WWW since it’s inception in 2015! We’re beaming with pride, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who donated to this important cause. Thank you to those who attended, donated, volunteered and planned! You’ve helped to secure a bright future for the animals in care of HSHPE!

⛳ What a perfect day on the course for an incredible cause!

CJBQ Featured Pet!

Meet Netossa: A Shy Girl with a Gentle Heart ❤️

Netossa is a 4-year-and-7-month-old spayed female who's still learning that the world can be a safe and comforting place. She's a very shy girl and will need time, patience, and understanding as she settles into a new home. She is treat and food motivated, which will help her build a bond with her new family.

At first, Netossa prefers to stay tucked away and quietly observe her surroundings. New environments can be overwhelming, but with a calm space and a slow, gentle approach, she begins to come out of her shell. Watching her build confidence and start to explore is incredibly rewarding.

Netossa takes comfort in the company of other cats and would do especially well in a home with a friendly, confident feline companion to help her feel safe and show her the ropes.

She's looking for a quiet, patient home where she can adjust at her own pace. With time, kindness, and a little understanding, Netossa has the potential to blossom into a loving and devoted companion. ❤️

All cats and dogs available for adoption at HSHPE have been vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered.

Adoptions include bonus offers from our amazing partners: Nutrience, Pet Valu Belleville, and PetSmart.

All animals at HSHPE are proudly fed Nutrience.
