🌞 The sun is shining; we're heading into a long weekend with a beautiful forecast AND we have some much good news to share because it's and that's what we do!

😻 After fostering 30+ HSHPE felines for over 5 years, Marilyn (Mare) has now finally been awarded the ‘Foster Fail Ribbon’! She recently adopted a semi-feral Mama cat (formerly Domino, now Zion) and Zion’s only tuxedo kitten (formerly Chess, now Sylvester) from her litter of four.
This family of five, were welcomed to her home as fosters in mid-June (Mama at 1 ½ years; kittens at 4 weeks old) with all food, litter, toys and medications supplied by the shelter. Mama Zion slowly became less fearful with patience, love, and moving very slowly! The kittens, with their distinctive and boisterous purrsonalities were readily socialized. Three recently went to one of our pet store partners and were adopted to loving homes within a week.

🚗 The fine folks at Need a Car - Trenton stopped in to share some amazing news! For every car sold this month, they're donating to HSHPE! Big thank you to John and James for stopping in and extending their generosity to animals like H***h. He's one of our longest stay dogs, waiting patiently for the right family to come along. H***h prefers people over pets, and we know there is someone out there who is looking for their soul dog. H***h is the sweetest, silliest guy with an underbite that melts your heart. 💛 Master Roshi came to us as a stray in late July as a stray who was picked up through animal control and never claimed. He was very timid but started to show his personality once he settled in. This lovely boy was vaccinated, treated for parasites and neutered while in our care. Here he is with his new family, and we've already received an update. He's doing great and loves cat nip! Congratulations!
🐾Eponine arrived as an impounded stray through animal control in mid- July. She was vaccinated and treated for parasites, and once her stray hold lapsed we booked her in for spay. Eponine recovered well from her surgery but came down with a bout of upper respiratory infection- which we treated her for. Finally healthy and ready for adoption, here she is with her new family- and sporting a new name! Welcome home, Zelda!
🐱Abby was surrendered to us in late July. She had some minor medical issues that required treatment but was otherwise healthy. We treated her for parasites and removed some matts. Abby was already spayed which helped her move through the adoption program quicker. When Abby was ready for her second chance, Rosie was there to offer it! A home for the rest of her nine lives! Abby now lives with Ranger, a dog Rosie adopted several years ago. They're making fast friends and we wish you all a long, beautiful life together!
💙Barrel! This boy came to us looking for help in late July. He was an impounded stray who was in rough shape. Barrel had eye infections, blisters on his ears, scabs and sores covering his thin, dehydrated body. Our team got to work right away, ensuring Barrel was as comfortable as possible. We booked a visit with a partner veterinarian right away and he was prescribed antiseptic wipes to heal his inflamed skin. Once Barrel looked and was feeling much better he was booked in for neuter and here he is, being adopted by his new best friend! Thank you for giving this deserving boy his second chance!
🐦🔥 Clyde! This sweet as apple pie puppy was brought to us with a broken foot. He was seen by a veterinary partner, and unfortunately, his paw was shattered and the best course of action was amputation. You'd think Clyde was born as a tripod because he healed beautifully and got around on his three legs and if he'd never had a fourth. Clyde is one of those pups that you remember always, his sweet and gentle nature, his soulful eyes. Clyde trusted us to find his forever and we're so glad his new mom came along. They were best friends right away, and we know Clyde is living the life he deserved. Thank you for loving him!
💜 This is what fostering can do for an animal in need! Meadow came to us as a stray who wasn't claimed. A very sweet, submissive pup who is healing from her recent spay surgery, but while in foster, she's building confidence and learning routine! Meadow is the missing piece to a family puzzle. 🥳 Joseph just earned his Chief Scout award and we're grateful for the work these young men accomplished! Our dog walking trail needed some TLC and when Joseph reached out and we discussed options, this was the work he hoped to focus on. Together, he and his family, along with 7 other tenacious Scouts, worked hard throughout the weekend, filling sparse areas with fresh mulch. Congratulations on earning your Chief Scout Award!
