Sad and true. Every charity and community group we know struggles to find volunteers. There’s no shortage of amazing ideas of things we can do, but if people don’t step up to help, the handful that do participate in community building, can’t be expected to do everything alone.

What an awesome thing to do!

🎨✨ Exciting News for Artists! ✨🎨 The Upper Clements Summer Arts Festival is proud to announce that this year’s exhibition will feature two special awards programs designed to celebrate and recognize the incredible talent being shared with our community.

🏆 The People’s Choice Award
Every visitor to the exhibition will have the opportunity to vote for their three favourite pieces. This award reflects the artwork that resonates most strongly with our community and visitors, making it a wonderful opportunity for artists to connect directly with the public.

🏆 The Critics’ Choice Award
We are also pleased to announce that we have secured an independent expert panel to jury a select portion of this year’s exhibition. Our jury members bring professional experience and expertise in art, design, creative industries, and cultural programming.

From all submitted entries, a limited number of works will be selected to participate in this juried portion of the exhibition, from which our Critics’ Choice Award recipient will be chosen.

Artists selected for the juried exhibition will also receive a Critics’ Choice Acceptance Certificate recognizing their participation in the juried program. Being accepted into a juried exhibition is a meaningful professional accomplishment, as it signifies that your work has been independently reviewed and selected by experienced professionals based on artistic merit.

💰 Artists are encouraged to sell their work during the festival. The Hall retains only 20% of sales, with proceeds helping us build and improve future festivals while continuing to support local artists and arts programming in our community.

🎨 We welcome submissions from artists working in all mediums and at all stages of their artistic journey — from emerging creators to established professionals.

📅 Submission Deadline: July 10

🏡 The Annapolis County is looking for our next next-door-neighbours! 🏡 They released an RFP for two development properties adjacent to Upper Clements Community Hall, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.

Whoever our new neighbours may be, we look forward to welcoming them to our little corner of the county. These historic properties are special places with deep roots in our community, and we’re confident the County will make the decision that best serves the long-term interests of residents and the region.

As a community hall, we know a thing or two about bringing people together, and we’re ready to help our future neighbours feel right at home. Whether it’s sharing local knowledge, making introductions, or simply offering a friendly wave across the fence, we’re excited to see these properties given the care, creativity, and TLC they deserve.

Our little community is growing, and we’re here for it!❤️ Got a shovel? 💙 A Heartfelt Thank You to Jeff Ellis of ConsultYou.ca

Sometimes generosity happens quietly behind the scenes. Recently, we learned that our annual website hosting renewal had been accidentally underbilled. When the discrepancy came to light, Jeff Ellis of ConsultYou.ca had every right to ask the Hall to pay the difference. Instead, he chose to absorb the cost himself and treat it as a donation in support of the work being done through Upper Clements Community Hall.

As a volunteer-run organization, every dollar matters. Funds that could have gone toward website expenses can now be directed toward keeping this space available for the people who use and enjoy it.

Jeff has been supporting our website and technical needs for almost 2 years, and this gesture is just one more example of the integrity, kindness, and generosity he brings to his work.

Thank you, Jeff, for believing in what we’re building here and for choosing to support our community in such a meaningful way. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated and will make a real difference.

If you’re looking for DIY website hosting, technical support, or digital solutions, we encourage you to check out ConsultYou.ca and thank Jeff for helping community organizations like ours continue to thrive.
❤️ From all of us at Upper Clements Community Hall, thank you.

For such a small little flower garden, it was a huge job because it had been overgrown with weeds, and our generous and energetic volunteers Denise & Chris not only got rid of the weeds, but filled the spot with beautiful iris’s, Lilly’s and other gorgeous flowers that will be blooming very soon! Emery generously donated the raised bed. A lot of TLC goes into keeping this place looking pretty!

A huge thank you to the Annapolis County for supporting the first-ever Upper Clements Artist Festival through their community grant program.

This photo captures the first of the many planning meetings that are taking place behind the scenes. Thanks to the County’s investment in community-led initiatives, we’ll be able to bring together local artists, demonstrations, exhibits, and a community barbecue for what promises to be a wonderful weekend of creativity and connection.

Events like this don’t happen without support. As a small rural community hall run by volunteers, grants like this help turn ideas into reality.

We are grateful to the County of Annapolis for helping us celebrate local talent and build community right here in Upper Clements. Stay tuned for festival details!
