Congratulations to our Amherstburg firefighters on going undefeated to win today's First Responder Slow Pitch Tournament at Co-An Park!

The crew capped off a perfect day with a win over the OPP in the finals. A big shout out to Lieutenant Bondy for managing the squad and leading them to the title.

Proud of this group for representing Amherstburg Fire both on and off the field!

Burn Ban in Effect Until Further Notice
Due to extremely poor air quality, a burn ban is now in effect.
All open-air burning is prohibited during this period. This measure is in place to help protect public health and reduce additional smoke in the area.

Fatal house fire under investigation

The Windsor Police Service has launched an arson investigation following a fatal house fire in Amherstburg.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on July 3, 2026, officers responded to an active residential fire in the 100 block of Texas Road. The Amherstburg Fire Department were also dispatched and successfully extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters located a 47-year-old man during a search of the residence. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Retired Deputy Chief Ron Duby with the Amherstburg Fire Department. A celebration of life will take place at the Sportsman Club (468 Lowes Side Road) tomorrow Thursday, July 9th from 1-4pm. Please join as family and friends share stories, memories, and moments that celebrate Ron and his remarkable 90 years in Amherstburg.
