That’s a wrap on this year’s Airdrie Canada Day Parade!

We want to thank the participants who put in a float, the spectators who came out to watch, and our sponsors who made this parade happen! We would also like to thank the City of Airdrie for their collaboration and support given the changes for this event.

The top three favourite parts of the 2026 Airdrie Canada Day Parade, according to the spectator survey, were:

The Floats - participants put a lot of effort and time into those amazing floats!!

Time with family - lots of smiling faces and cheering in the crowd!

Community - events like the Canada Day Parade and the Santa Claus Parade are planned with a sense of community in mind. We are proud to put on an inclusive and welcoming event for Airdrie!

The results are in!

We had a different route this year with new seating options. The feedback was largely positive regarding these two themes.

70% of survey respondents indicated that the seating at this year’s Canada Day Parade was average to excellent! The City of Airdrie provided bleachers this year to help accommodate seating along the shortened route. They were well utilized and a great addition!

60% of respondents stated that the length of the Canada Day Parade, despite the changes, was average to excellent!

63% of survey respondents said their overall Airdrie Canada Day Parade experience was average to excellent.

We had a lot of changes this year and we appreciate the support of parade participants and spectators to make this year’s parade safe and fun for all!

We heard loud and clear in our survey that spectators would like to see bands in the Airdrie Canada Day Parade!

We love music and it definitely creates the celebration atmosphere! As a non-profit organization, we don’t have funding to hire bands. However, if you have a band and would like to be in the parade, we would love to have you register!

If you are a business owner and would like to sponsor hiring a band for the parade, please reach out! We will be exploring options for bringing more music to the 2027 Canada Day Parade!

We want to say a huge thanks to everyone who completed the post parade survey! The response rate was quite low compared to the number of spectators, but we saw some clear themes. This gives us an opportunity to respond to those themes directly.

The first and most obvious theme was the equestrian entries. We heard loud and clear that the horses were missed. We also heard some comments that gave us pause to provide clarity. The theme of Airdrie Canada Day Parade is “Celebrate Canada 🇨🇦.” Several respondents indicated that horses belong in a rodeo parade. We think so too! It’s a good time to distinguish that the Airdrie Rodeo and the Canada Day Parade, while often occurring around the same time, are separate events.

That said, we hope to bring the horses back next year! With more time to plan and route discussions already happening with the City of Airdrie, we would love to see the horses back next year!
