Dingwetsi Association has entered the chat🙌🏾.. Today, as a same-sex couple stands before the courts seeking the right to marry in Botswana, we are witnessing a group of married women gathering in protest, dressed in traditional attire to show their opposition.

For many of us, this moment raises difficult questions.

Where is this same level of mobilization when women are killed by intimate partners? When children are abused? When families in our communities are struggling with violence and injustice?

It is deeply disheartening to see women—who carry the responsibility of nurturing life and shaping our communities—organize so powerfully in opposition to the dignity of others, yet remain largely silent on issues that harm women and children every day.

As a society, we must ask ourselves: what do we choose to stand up for? And whose humanity are we willing to defend?

Botswana deserves a future where compassion, dignity, and justice guide how we show up for one another.
