Civil Case vs Criminal Case: Are you Mixing them up?
Many people believe that every wrong must end at the police station.
Someone owes you money?
"I'll report you to the police!"
A friend fails to return your investment?
"You will sleep in cell!"

"I will make sure you face a criminal case!"
But here's the truth
A Civil Case is not a Criminal Case. Understanding the difference can save you stress, embarrassment, wasted time, and unnecessary legal expenses.
In a Civil Case:

🥢 The dispute is usually between individuals or organisations.
🥢 The goal is to enforce rights or obtain compensation.
🥢 Issues often involve debts, contracts, land disputes, tenancy matters, family disputes, and breach of agreements.
🥢 The matter is taken to court, not the police station.
In a Criminal Case:
🥢 The offence is regarded as a wrong against society.
🥢 The State takes over the prosecution.
🥢 It becomes "The Government vs The Accused."
🥢 The goal is punishment, not compensation.
🥢 Police and prosecutors play major roles in the process.
Here's the part many people don't know
If someone simply owes you money, breaks a contract, or refuses to fulfil an agreement, it does not automatically become a criminal case.
Not every problem is a crime.
Some matters are civil disputes, and the law provides different remedies for them. The mistake many people make is trying to use the police to recover debts or settle purely civil disagreements.
