Truckers Campaign

The campaign was conducted by Palapye Road Safety Committee in collaboration with Palapye Road Safety Advocates. Activities took place at the South Africa border and at Martins Drift Border Post, where truck drivers were engaged on the dangers of tailgating.

During the campaign, drivers were educated on the importance of maintaining a safe following distance to reduce accidents, especially on busy and high-risk routes. The sessions were interactive, allowing drivers to ask questions and share their experiences, helping to promote safer driving practices and ultimately reduce road traffic accidents.

Learners at Lerala Schools that is,Kukujwe,Lekadibeng and Lerala Primary School were comprehensively educated on road safety, with particular emphasis on road signs and their categories;

Namely warning signs, regulatory signs, and informational signs.

They were taught the purpose and importance of each category, how to identify them by shape and colour, and how they guide both drivers and pedestrians in promoting safety and order on the road.

In addition, learners received practical instruction and demonstration on how to cross the road safely, including stopping at the roadside, looking right, left, and right again, ensuring the road is clear, and using designated pedestrian crossings where available.
