The EMES PhD Student Network brings you another must-attend session: "From Research to Impact: Communicating Social Enterprise and Social Economy Research," co-organized by Maria Samareva and Kardelen Dilara Cazgır

In this session, Francesca Calò and Maciej (Matthias) K. Szulc will share their experiences, challenges, and practical examples of communicating your work to policymakers, practitioners, and the wider public, so your research reaches the people who can actually use it.

🌍 Social Innovation for Post-Disaster Recovery

We are delighted to share that EMES co-founder and Honorary Member, Lars Hulgård, is currently serving as Visiting Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), Brazil.

As part of this visit, he will deliver a public lecture on:

🌍 Great response to the hashtag !

We are delighted to share that we have received more than 50 applications for the upcoming Summer School on Advancing Knowledge and Driving Change: What Epistemologies and Methodologies for Engaged Research in the SE Field in Times of Multidimensional Crises.
The response has been particularly strong among PhD candidates, alongside applications from early-career researchers and practitioners.
📍 While most applications come from Europe we are also excited to see interest from Africa, Asia, North America, and Latin America!
💡 Many applicants are working on themes highly relevant to the EMES network

📝 The evaluation process is now underway, and we will be reaching out to applicants soon.

The Doctoral Thesis Award, established in memory of Carlo Borzaga — renowned scholar of cooperation and the Third Sector, founder of Euricse and a founding member of EMES — recognises outstanding interdisciplinary doctoral research on the role of cooperatives in strengthening social cohesion, building resilient communities, and fostering democratic participation and peaceful pathways to social change.

The Award recognises outstanding doctoral research exploring the role of cooperatives and social economy organisations in fostering democratic participation, social inclusion, resilient communities, and peaceful pathways to social change. It also encourages innovative, critical, and interdisciplinary research that offers new theoretical and empirical perspectives on the contribution of the social economy to peace, social cohesion, and sustainable development. 🌱

Promoted by Euricse and the Fondazione Venezia per la Ricerca sulla Pace, in collaboration with the EMES International Research Network, the Università di Trento, International Cooperative Alliance, and CIRIEC International, the Award honours the legacy of Professor Borzaga, whose work has deeply shaped research and education in the social economy field.
