How You Show Up Matters with Courtney from Embodied Horsemanship

I still remember the first time I met Courtney.

She casually mentioned she had trained and broken in her horse completely at liberty and I remember thinking that was equal parts impressive and absolutely terrifying 😅 Surely this woman had to be some kind of magician.

But then I watched her at our agistment.

I watched the way she allowed space instead of forcing answers. The way she interpreted energy and redirected it instead of suppressing it. The way horses softened around her. And honestly, it was remarkable.

I’ve been a little bit in awe ever since.

For those who joined us for Sinead’s presentation, this feels like a beautiful next layer. Sinead helped us think more deeply about what our horses might be communicating. Courtney’s talk will help fill in some of the gaps around what we are bringing into the conversation - through our nervous system, energy, awareness and presence.

Courtney is originally from WA and relatively new to the Canberra horse scene, so many of you may not have heard of her yet - but you’re missing out. This Neigh Night is your chance to get a taste of what she’s about and learn some of the practices behind the “magic”

Together we’ll explore:
• nervous system regulation
• embodiment and awareness
• “appropriate responses” vs shutdown
• how our nervous systems influence our horses
• how yoga and presence can improve horsemanship, focus and connection

This isn’t about becoming a yoga person. It’s about understanding yourself better so you can better understand your horse.

Wow that was quick!! Cloud Boots ordered Tuesday afternoon and BAM! today they are here.

Hopefully these will help lots and we can go for some light walks to help his circulation through his hooves.

Great info from Belinda’s 🥰

As winter settles in, one of the most important things you can do for your horse is… feed enough fibre. 🐴🌾

When horses digest hay, it creates heat — helping them stay warm from the inside out.

If fibre intake is too low, you may notice:
▪️ Weight loss
▪️ Reduced energy
▪️ Increased sensitivity to cold

💡 Instead of just adding more hard feed, start with:
✔️ Plenty of hay
✔️ Consistent access (as much as possible)
✔️ Full range of vitamins and minerals alongside (BLL or BAM+ would be great!)

Fibre first, always. It’s the foundation of winter feeding. 🌿

Another of our incredibly dedicated professionals we are so lucky to have.

Zeus is feeling so much better after his session with Matty. He seems to be slowly able to weight bear more on his very sore hoof. We’ve been giving him some magics from KJM Equine Wellbeing in his feed and it is making a wonderful difference. We’ve measured him up for some cloud boots that will also help with his rehab.

Diesel and Tango also got their pedicures done and were very well behaved in the wet.
