BirdLife Bass Coast has regular bird-watching outings and is also involved in conservation and research activities. We hope to be working more closely with this wonderful community group in the future!

Check out their website Here to find out how to join and support them.

What a wonderful time our Community Open Morning and Planting Session was! We had 28 participants, planted 500 plants and 16 households became new members of our group! The day was overcast and a bit chilly but we brought our own sunshine with plenty of enthusiasm and kindness to share.

Thank you everyone for coming. Special thanks to BirdLife Bass Coast who led our bird walk, our members who helped plan the day and set up and pack up, Bass Coast Shire for the community grant to create our new website and promotional material, Wonthaggi Garden Supplies for their generous 10% offer for our members, Native Seed Box for the wildflower seed paper plus their generous 10% offer for our members, Bass Coast Post and Sentinel times for promoting our event, and Bass Coast Landcare Network for the plants and support.

We already have a few new projects in the planning stage and look forward to meeting you all again soon!

The National Landcare Week 2026 Survey Report is here!

Australians are finding hope, connection and purpose through landcare.

More than 1,200 Australians shared their experiences of landcare and community environmental action, helping create one of the largest national snapshots of grassroots conservation in Australia.

The findings reveal:
🌱 83% regularly help care for their local environment.
🌱 93% have made friends or new social connections through landcare.
🌱 88% agree that getting involved in landcare helped them feel more connected to their community.

The findings reveal a growing movement where people are restoring landscapes, protecting biodiversity and strengthening communities. But they also highlight the pressure on volunteers, reliable funding and practical support to keep the landcare movement thriving.

Report takeaway: Landcare is not only restoring landscapes, but also helping Australians feel connected, useful and hopeful in a time of environmental change.
