Tots2Teens Albury-Wodonga

Tots2Teens Albury-Wodonga I have worked as a Psychiatric Nurse, Case Manager and Alcohol worker for overf 30 years.

I am constantly looking for ways to prevent trauma from affecting people long term, and hence we are continually trying to provide services that will help address this concern. Our trauma packs work on positive neurons, and help to reduce the long term effects of trauma on the brain.

๐Ÿ’œ Donor Spotlight ๐Ÿ’œ

This week we are proud to recognise and celebrate Rotary Club of Albury NSW and their incredible commitment to Tots2Teens.

Over the past three years, Rotary has generously donated $30,000 to support the rent of our shopfront, The Nest.

Without this support, we would not be able to keep our doors open and maintain the safe, welcoming space that so many children and families rely on as they rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic and family violence.

Behind every open door is a community that cares and Rotary has demonstrated that time and time again. Their ongoing support helps us provide stability and hope during some of life's most challenging moments.

We are deeply grateful for Rotary Club of Albury NSW's generosity, partnership and belief in the work we do.

Thank you for helping us keep our doors open for the families who need it most ๐Ÿ’œ

One of the greatest joys at Tots2Teens is hearing the lovely stories of the beautiful children supporting us. Kenzie has been saving โ€œall her cashโ€ for 11 months. This included her birthday money, vouchers and any other cash. When asked why she did it the reply was โ€œbecause some kids do have toys and some kids donโ€™tโ€. She then went shopping with her mum and thought hard about every toy she chose and making sure all ages were catered for. This lovely ๐Ÿฅฐ heart will go far in our world! Thank you so much for your kindness Kenzie! ###

Last Wednesday we were incredibly honoured to attend the recent Border Trust Community Grants presentation evening, where Tots2Teens Alburyโ€“Wodonga was awarded a generous $7,500 grant from Michael and Sue Houlihan. ๐Ÿ’œ

This funding will directly support the rent of our shopfront โ€” a safe and welcoming space where children and families fleeing domestic and family violence can come to choose essential belongings as they begin rebuilding their lives.

The evening was also a wonderful opportunity to hear from so many passionate organisations making a difference within our community. Our President, Joanne, was invited to speak on a panel alongside other frontline community leaders, sharing the challenges faced not only by our organisation, but by the families and children we support every day.

We are so proud of Jo for representing Tots2Teens with such compassion, honesty, and strength. Hearing her speak about the growing need for support in our community was both powerful and deeply important.

A heartfelt thank you to Border Trust, Michael and Sue Houlihan, and everyone involved in creating such a meaningful evening. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for the work being done to strengthen and uplift our local community.

๐Ÿ’œ Seeking a Mentor ๐Ÿ’œ

A little more about me and why I am exploring this pathway:

Alongside founding and leading Tots2Teens for the past 10 years, I have spent almost 30 years working in mental health services as a Psychiatric Nurse. I hold qualifications in Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs, have completed community leadership programs, and have extensive experience supporting vulnerable individuals, children, young people, and families through crisis and recovery.

The skills I bring to Tots2Teens every day are not only those of a passionate volunteer, but also those of a qualified and experienced professional with expertise in trauma-informed care, community development, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, leadership, and service coordination.

I believe the work we have built is valuable, sustainable, and worthy of professional recognition. I am seeking guidance from someone experienced in the not-for-profit sector who can help me navigate the pathway from founder and volunteer leader to a funded role that ensures the long-term future of the organisation and the families we support.
