The heart remembers...
Grief is the moment
I start crying
in the middle
of a joy-filled event,
wishing
he was here.
It’s the quiet pause
when everyone else
is laughing,
and suddenly
a memory
rushes in.
It’s seeing something
beautiful
and realizing
the person
you most want
to share it with
is gone.
Grief appears
in birthdays,
in holidays,
in ordinary days
that should feel simple
but somehow
don’t.
Because love
doesn’t disappear
when someone leaves.
It stays.
It lingers
in memories,
in empty spaces,
in the quiet moments
between happiness.
And sometimes
even in the middle
of joy,
the heart remembers
who should
still be there.
