Tonight at the Tamworth Jockey Club we, Tamworth First Light Rotary Club, celebrated our Changeover. Outgoing President Steve and New President Naomi.
Dimity did a wonderful job as the M.C. Our outgoing exchange students Tue ( Barraba) and Estevan, told us all about the wonderful things that they had done, whilst they have been with us. We will definitely miss them. Awards were a plenty! Liz Gill will become an Honoury Member and was presented with a double sapphire PHF, Terry Robinson, and Mitch Soree received PHF. Bruce Hemmett was awarded the Steve Burrows Award (Club Person ) and Hugh Raadgever was presented Centurion from the Rotary Foundation.
Helen Tickle presented Steve and Ruth with a lovely bunch of flowers. DG Evan Burrell's representative was DGE Di Hall.
Jamie's quiz was very entertaining and we all learnt a thing or two about fruits and weeds!!

At our meeting this morning, we were graced by the presence of Emma and Tiarn from Homes North. They enlightened us on how they nurture and help all those people less fortunate than ourselves in regards to housing and all the other issues that come with housing people.
Our member Mitch Soree gave the thanks and President Steve handed over a donation, which will go to helping Homes North in all that they do.

On this cold and frosty morning Louise brought along the returning RYLARIANS, who told us all about their favourite moments during their recent RYLA week over on the cost.
They were, team leader, Tobi-Lee and the Rylariians, Colin, Marcus, Drew and Rueben.
Two of our members and past Rylarians, gave us lovely fluffy memories from years gone by.
Thanks to Louise, this continues to be a very rewarding experience.

We would love for you to join us at our Changeover Night.

At our meeting this morning we held the Tamworth First Light Rotary's Public Speaking Comp. We had two students from McCarthy Catholic College and two from Calrossy Anglican School. Sanza Arzal and Jack Riley from McCarthy and Isobel Chatfield and Lauren Sharkey from Calrossy.
The standard was very high, but as in all competitions there can be only one winner and in this case it was Sanza Arzal.

Congratulations to The Beacon Truck - Tamworth for receiving Volunteer Team of the Year 2026 from TRC.

Absolutely deserving. We love everything you are aiming to achieve with The Beacon Truck and Holistic Recovery.

We are incredibly honoured and proud to share that The Beacon Truck - has been announced as the Volunteer Team of the Year 2026 by Tamworth Regional Council during National Volunteer Week.

It was such a wonderful morning spent celebrating alongside the many amazing volunteers who help make Tamworth such a caring and compassionate community. With approximately 5,000 volunteers contributing across our region, it was inspiring to recognise the people who dedicate their time and hearts to supporting others every day. Thank you for organising wonderful event and recognition to all volunteers in Tamworth by My TRC Volunteer Connect.

Over the past 12 months, The Beacon Truck volunteer team has proudly contributed nearly 2,000 hours of volunteering, helping distribute more than 3,500 meals and over 1,500 essential items including clothing, toiletries, and food to people in our community doing it tough and experiencing homelessness.

What started as a simple vision — creating a space where anyone could have a seat at the table, share a meal, feel seen, and experience kindness from their community — has grown into something incredibly meaningful.

This recognition belongs to every volunteer who has shown up with compassion, warmth, and a genuine desire to help others. Your efforts are creating real impact in the lives of many people across our community. We also recognise our own Rob Carn was finalist in Volunteer of the Year.

Thank you to Tamworth Regional Council, our volunteers, supporters, donors, and the wider community for believing in this initiative and helping us continue this important work.

A special thank you also to Billabong Clubhouse , Rotary Club of Tamworth - First Light Mark Sleiman,
club kootingal Liberty Food Care, Holistic Recovery Pause Allied Health KoalaOne Divvy for your ongoing support and generosity.

Together, we are proving that connection, dignity, and kindness can change lives.
