Today, Zac, our new ACT State Representative, had his first taste of life on the stallholder side of VGA.

He spent the day chatting with the Defence community about the importance of staying connected, both while serving and when transitioning from service, as well as gaming, geek culture, 3D printing, and everything in between.

Thank you to everyone who popped by and stopped for a chat, we look forward to seeing many more pop into the community over the coming days.

And of course, a big thank you to Zac, our ACT State Representative, for sharing more on the power of community, gaming and geek culture and volunteering his time to help out.

🇦🇺 DVA Proposed Allied Health Changes – VGA Submission

Our CEO, Sam Harris, has recently made a written submission to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs regarding the proposed changes to allied health arrangements for Veterans from 1 July 2027.

While we support reducing unnecessary administrative requirements, our submission raises concerns about the proposed $5,000 annual threshold and the potential for this to become a barrier to clinically necessary treatment.

We have also sought clarification around SRDP and TPI exemptions, ongoing and lifelong allied health treatment, the proposed 28-day approval process, and how existing Treatment Cycles and referrals will transition to the new arrangements.

Sam has also questioned the timing of the consultation and whether the feedback provided by Veterans, Veteran Families, advocates and other stakeholders will genuinely influence the final arrangements and result in meaningful changes where concerns are identified.

Earlier this week our WA State Rep Matt attended the Perth ADF Transition Seminar sharing more on the health and wellbeing benefits that community, gaming and geek culture can have on Veterans and Veteran Families. Thank you to everyone who popped in for a chat on the day and to Matt our volunteer on the ground on the day.

Over the weekend, the Defence community, Veterans and Families came together for a great day at the Invictus Australia Townsville Defence Community Sport Expo.

It was fantastic to see the community getting involved, connecting through sport and learning more about the opportunities available locally.

Our NQLD Rep, Aaron, was there on the day helping out and sharing more about the importance of connection and community, and the role esports can play in this.

It was also great to chat further with Phillip Thompson OAM MP - Serving Our Community on the day about the importance of grassroots organisations and the vital role they play in supporting the health and wellbeing of Veterans and Veteran families.

Thank you to Invictus Australia for bringing the Defence community, veterans and families together and creating opportunities for connection, community and wellbeing through sport. 🇦🇺🎮💪
