That's Helen Harrison on Bay FM last week, describing the SP Dinner & Dance. And she's right — it's a genuinely great night out. Dinner, drinks, a DJ, a dance floor that fills up early, raffle prizes, a silent auction, and a live auction that gets very competitive.

Here's what makes it more than a great night out.

Every dollar raised pays the wage of a counsellor at the Cage Youth Foundation. That counsellor supervises 14 trainee counsellors, and between them they see 35 to 40 people every single week. People from our own community, sitting down with someone, finally being heard.

That's what a table of ten does.

Tickets are on sale now and moving fast, and the night is only a few weeks away. We'd love to fill the room and raise more than we ever have.

Being shut out by someone you care about can feel confusing and hurtful. But often, it's not about you, it's about what they're going through.

Instead of trying to force the conversation or fix whatever they're going through, stay close, stay patient, and let them know the door's still open.

And remember, you don't have to do it alone. A mutual friend checking in too can take the pressure off both of you.
