Often when we have surgery we don’t remember all the team that provided incredible healthcare. We might remember our surgeon sure but there is a whole team that ensures we get safe and first class Hospital care when we have elective or emergency surgery.
Staff like Redland Hospital Clinical nurse Kathy Penaflorida, who helps get patients ready for their anesthesia, providing calm reassurance alongside top notch clinical care.
What brings Kathy to most joy in her role at Redland Hospital is when patients let her know they feel safe and reassured their in good hands prior to their surgery.
"Knowing that a simple act of kindness or reassurance can make a difference in a vulnerable time is something that stays with me.
We’re so grateful for staff like Kathy and all of the incredible care team at Redland Hospital.

One of the best parts of our job is watching a family turn their gratitude for their own experience at Redland Hospital into something that helps the next family.
Josh Warren and his fiancée Caitlin had both of their daughters at Redland Hospital, an emergency caesarean with Maia in 2023, a planned one with Freya this past January. Through both birth journeys, the maternity team looked after the whole family.
Josh wanted to give something back, so he's donated funding through the Redland Hospital Fund for an Aspire Comfy Sleeper Chair, giving the next partner in the maternity ward somewhere proper to rest.
"If you're rested, everything's much easier," Josh told us.
This is exactly what the Redland Hospital Fund is here for, connecting the generosity of locals like Josh and Caitlin to projects that make a tangible difference at the hospital that cared for them, turning their appreciation into something the next Redlands family benefits from.
