💜 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day – 15 June 💜

Today, on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day ( ), we stand together to raise awareness of elder abuse and promote the rights, dignity and wellbeing of older people in our community.

Elder abuse can take many forms, including financial, emotional, physical, social and neglect. It can happen to anyone and often occurs at the hands of someone known and trusted.

At the Urangan Community Wellness Centre, we believe every older person deserves to feel safe, respected, valued and connected.

If you or someone you know is experiencing elder abuse, support is available locally through:

Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre – Seniors Legal Service.
📞 Phone: (07) 4194 2663
🌐 https://wbbcls.com.au/seniors-legal-service/

Let's work together to create a community where older people are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve—not just today, but every day.

A diagnosis of memory change doesn’t mean the connection has to stop.

If you or a loved one are navigating the early stages of dementia, finding a space where you feel completely understood can make all the difference. That is exactly why we are launching The Nostalgia Lounge.

This isn't just a social group—it is a warm, uplifting, and completely non-judgmental space where people experiencing memory changes and their carers can come together to smile, share, and support one another over a cuppa.

Launching on Monday, 6th July 2026, we are focusing on the "glass half full" moments with meaningful activities and genuine community connection.

🗓️ Session Details (Mondays Weekly):

🌏 Happy World Environment Day! 🌿

At The Tree House Urangan Community Wellness Centre, we’re celebrating the beautiful green spaces right here in our own backyard — starting with our wonderful community gardens.

Everyone is welcome to wander through and enjoy:

🐝 Our Air Bee & Bee — a cosy little spot helping local bees thrive.
🏡 Colourful Garden Houses — bright, cheerful features that bring the space to life.
🌱 Herb & Veggie Patch — fresh herbs, veggies and plenty of inspiration for home growing.

A special thank you goes to our amazing volunteers who generously give their time, energy and care to maintain these spaces. Their dedication helps create a welcoming environment for our community to enjoy and ensures our gardens continue to flourish throughout the year. 💚

And while you’re here, feel free to follow the path straight through to the beautiful Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens right next door — a peaceful place to walk, relax and connect with nature.

Small moments outdoors help us feel connected, calm and part of something bigger. Here’s to caring for our environment, appreciating our volunteers, and enjoying the spaces we share. 🌏🌱
