🥾🏕️ Adventure was happening all across Cardiff Scout Group this weekend! 🏕️🥾
While our older Scouts and Venturers were out tackling an overnight hike and putting their skills to the test, our Joey and Cub Scouts were busy having adventures of their own at camp!
From pitching tents and learning practical camping skills to tackling crate stacking challenges, our youngest members threw themselves into every activity with enthusiasm and plenty of smiles. A huge highlight was the crate stacking, which quickly became a crowd favourite. Safe to say we'll need to bring that one back again! 🧗♀️🪢
The weather certainly kept things interesting (wouldn't expect anything less for a Scouting weekend). We battled heat, humidity and a spectacular overnight southerly buster, proving once again that Scouting is all about adapting, problem-solving and making the most of every adventure! 🌬️🏕️
We were also thrilled to officially welcome new Cubs into our Scouting family during the weekend. 💙💛
One of our favourite takeaways came when a youth member shared that their favourite part of camp wasn't a particular activity at all... it was simply being there with their mates. ❤️
And really, that's what Scouting is all about.
A huge thank you to our Guide Will from the Hunter & Coastal Region Activities Team for running our crate stacking activity. Will does an amazing job engaging with the youth and helping them stretch their comfort zone! The activity was an absolute hit with the kids and a fantastic opportunity for them to challenge themselves, build confidence and have a whole lot of fun. There's already been requests to run this activity again - sooner rather than later!
We'd also like to thank Alex, Deputy Hunter and Coastal Region Commissioner in Program Support and Assistant Group Leader at Carey Bay Toronto Scout Group who joined us for the weekend. Alex generously shared her knowledge and experience, and it was fantastic for our leaders and youth members to benefit from her support. Scouting is always stronger when we work together across Groups, and we're very grateful she took the time to lend a hand. 💙
It was also fantastic to have the Lorax as well as some of the North Lake Macquarie Rovers pop in and say hello - they speak for the trees! What a treat that was! It's always great for our younger members to see the wider Scouting family in action and get a glimpse of the adventures that await them as they progress through Scouting. (And we hope the Lorax has a wonderful birthday today!!! 🌳🍃🌱🎈🎉)
Whether it's a first camp, a crate stacking challenge, or an overnight hike through the bush, weekends like this remind us why we love Scouting so much.
