Be ready to act.
🔥There’s a heightened risk.
🔥 Be alert for fires in your area.
🔥 Decide what you will do if a fire starts.
🔥 If a fire starts, your life and property may be at risk.
🔥 The safest option is to avoid bush fire risk areas.

From the 1st of September a fire Permit is required. Further information can be found at https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/BFDP . You can apply for a fire permit at https://nswrfsprod.service-now.com/guardian_csp . A local permit officer will contact you once we have received the request. Once the permit has been authorised you will need to fill out a burn notification and include details of the permit. You will need to give 24 hours notice of your intention to burn and notify your neighbours.

The NSW Rural Fire Service recommends property access tracks and driveways have:

• A minimum width of 3.5 metres.
• A vertical clearance of 4 metres from overhanging branches or structures.
• Adequate turning space for large fire appliances.
• All weather surfaces capable of supporting heavy vehicles.
• Clearly accessible gates and entrances.

The Bush Fire Danger Period will start on 1st September. After the end of this month you will need a permit to burn.

If you intend to burn off this month, click on the link below to give NSW RFS 24hrs notice and also you must inform your neighbours.

Goto https://nswrfsprod.service-now.com/guardian_csp and select notify of your planned burn. Fill in the online form and you will get a BN number which confirms that you have notified the RFS of your intention to burn.

Have you ever considered joining the Rural Fire Service? It's a great contribution to your local community. Tinonee RFS members are all volunteers. Many members train to fight fires etc. It's also possible to become a support member to Tinonee and also be involved in Catering, Communications and Aviation brigades if that is where your skills lie.

Mark your calendars. Tinonee RFS members will be having a series of information events to assist our community in preparing for the upcoming fire season. These events will be held over 2 weekends.
These events are designed for community members to drop by and have a chat, asking the questions relevant to your particular circumstances.
Locations, dates and times
Saturday 12 September corner of Hillville Road and Bucketts Way between 2.30 and 4.30pm
Sunday 13 September Mondrook Community Hall between 2.30 and 4.30pm
Saturday 19 September near tennis courts Tinonee recreational reserve between 2.30 and 4.30pm
Sunday 20 September corner of Winter Street and Manchester Street between 2.30 and 4.30pm
We look forward to having a chat and preparing our community for the upcoming fire season.
