WELCOMING NEW STAFF

We've welcomed many new faces to the MSS team in 2026 including nurses Chantelle and Amber. We asked them some questions to get to know them better:

Chantelle - Registered Nurse
🔹"I have 6 children, I relocated from Dubbo."
🔹"I enjoy fishing, camping, spending time with family and dogs."

Amber - Enrolled Nurse
🔹"I love spending quality time with my mum. I love a good shopping trip. I love spending time with my partner going to the beach/camping."
🔹"I pretty much grew up in my mum's hair salon. After school I would be there every afternoon helping. I also lived in WA for 6 months."

Last Friday was 'Fun Scrub Friday' for our nurses, with the team wearing their most colourful patterned scrubs for the day.

There were lots of smiles, compliments and positive reactions from our wonderful clients when our nurses arrived for home visits.

PLAYDOUGH IS ALWAYS A HIT

Each year in term 1 MSS participates in a ‘meet and greet’ at Taree Public School, providing activities for students so that parents can meet their children’s teachers. Last week MSS Connected Families youth workers Bec and Kylie took part, alongside other local services.

It is well known at MSS that Bec is the master of making playdough -- and she provided stacks of colourful playdough for the day!

The children (and teachers!) thoroughly enjoyed it, and there were some very inspirational and imaginative creations.

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH - DEANNA

Deanna volunteers as part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, providing companionship to socially isolated older people.

During recent bushfires, one of Deanna’s care recipients was quite concerned about how close the fire was to her home. Deanna went out to visit and spent the rest of the day there, playing games, chatting and being a reassuring presence.

Her care recipient says: “Deanna is a Godsend. She goes above and beyond, and we have so much fun on our day trips out.”

Lifestyle Coordinator Amanda and MSS client John recently visited NSW SES Taree City Unit to make a donation on behalf of MSS.

Each year at our client Christmas party we hold a raffle, and funds raised are donated to a chosen community group. This year the SES was chosen in recognition of the outstanding efforts of local volunteers during the May 2025 floods.

Funds will assist the unit in purchasing extra supplies to supplement existing operational equipment.
