The Tom McLaughlin prize is awarded each year at the Australasian College of Road Safety annual conference for an individual or organisation delivering the best submission with implications for improving outcomes for child road safety.
No child or family should have to experience such shocking trauma. Yet sadly children continue to be killed and seriously injured on our roads. These crashes are preventable.
Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation believe that evidence based actionable projects, policies and procedures reduce harm and improve outcomes for child road users in our communities and this dedicated work more than deserves special recognition and encouragement!

Natalie Ashton & Patrice Smith from City of Casey Council
For their Project: From Local Evidence to Safer School Precincts. They developed a ‘Practical Guide to Safer School Precincts’ May 2024 - December 2025 to translate local evidence, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) findings, and practitioner experience into a practical, scalable framework and delivery model for improving road safety and movement around schools. Designed for Councils and partner agencies, the guide consolidates lessons from their existing program into a structured, transferable model that supports consistent and equitable decision-making.
