🐬 Friday nights are club nights at Lakes! 💜💙

Our 2026/2027 season is underway, and we’re welcoming new and returning swimmers to join the fun at Lakes Swimming Club!

Club nights are about friendship, building confidence and being part of something bigger. Come along, have a go and enjoy Friday nights with our swimming community!

📅 Every Friday from 5:45 pm
🏊 Swimmers must be able to swim a minimum of 12.5 metres
🎉 FOUR FREE Come & Try nights!
🎟️ Play On! Sports Vouchers accepted.

🐬 Under 6s join the club and participate in club nights for FREE! All you need to pay is pool entry of $4.60 per visit.

🏁 From 5:45–6:00 pm, our little swimmers enjoy fun races supported by the big kids! It’s a lovely opportunity to build confidence, make friends and have our older swimmers cheering them on. 💜

What a journey it’s been.

For 25 years, Springfield Waterworx Swimming Club has been more than a club. It’s been early mornings, cold pool decks, personal bests, club nights, and a community that showed up for our kids week after week.
That chapter now closes. SWWSC has officially dissolved and merged with Lakes Swimming Club to form the Lakes Orcas.

This isn’t an ending. It’s the next chapter, with a bigger pathway, a stronger program, and the same drive to train hard and race well. Our swimmers already have that fire. Now they get a new home to chase it in.
Thank you to every parent, coach, volunteer, sponsor and swimmer who built Waterworx over those 25 years. You made it what it was.

🦈💙 THE ORCAS ARE STILL SWIMMING STRONG! 💙🦈

What a weekend at the UQ Long Course Championships! After a big, honest week of training in the pool, every single Whiteie who raced came out with PBs and fresh best times. 🎯⏱️

Huge shout-out to these legends for:

- Sticking with their training, even when it’s tough
- Making the brave move to a new club and new coaches
- Still turning up, racing hard, and smashing their goals

And a massive thank you to the coaches and everyone at The Lakes Swimming Club for welcoming the Orcas with open arms. 🙌💙

For taking our kids under your care, guiding them, supporting them, and pushing them to be the best swimmers they can be – it means the world to our families and it’s showing in the water.

You’ve all shown what real grit and community look like. Proud doesn’t even cover it. 🙌

Keep building on this. The work you’re putting in now is laying the foundation for even faster swims, bigger meets, and more PBs to come. 🚀🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

25 YEARS. A NEW HOME. THE SAME ORCA FAMILY. 🐋

After more than 25 years of calling Waterworx home, our club has been forced to close a chapter we never expected — or wanted — to close.

Following the sale of the pool and decisions made by management, Springfield Waterworx Swimming Club was left without a viable home for our swimmers and our squad program.

There will be no sugar-coating it.

After 25 years of history, memories, friendships, early mornings, late nights, PBs, medals, tears, laughter and generations of swimmers walking through those doors, we were left with no choice but to move on.

But what happened next has reminded us of something incredibly important:

A swimming club was never four walls and a swimming pool.
It was always the people. 🐋

Our squad has now transitioned to Carole Park Pool, joining forces with The Lakes Swimming Club, and we are currently undertaking the process of merging our two clubs and building something even stronger together.

As part of this next chapter, we will be leaving the Springfield Waterworx name behind.

That part hurts.

But there is one thing coming with us.

Our Orca. 🐋

Because the Orca has always represented more than a logo. It represents family, strength, loyalty and looking after your own.

And that is exactly what we have done.

The most important part of this entire story is our kids.

They are thriving.

They have found a new sense of belonging.
They are happy.
They are training hard.
They are laughing again.
They are challenging each other.
And they are swimming some absolutely incredible PBs. 🔥

They now have three dedicated coaches working together to give them opportunities to become the best swimmers they can be.

What could have been the end of our club has instead become the beginning of something much bigger.

We didn’t get to choose how our chapter at Waterworx ended.

But we absolutely get to choose what happens next.

You can take away our pool.

You can take away our name.

But you can’t take away our family. 🐋

The Orcas are still here.

And we’re only getting started. 💪🐋🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Same family. New home. Bigger future.

August belonged to the SWWSC Orcas 🐋💙

Over the month of August, our SWWSC Orcas have been out in force, racing hard and showing what this club is all about.

Amelia took a huge step forward at her first ever Queensland Short Course Championships, smashing personal bests and securing two top‑20 finishes for the state. For a first Queensland meet, that’s outstanding work—and a sign of even bigger things to come.

While Amelia was making waves in Brisbane, Rolly headed across the Pacific to race in America. He came home with a swag of medals and the title of National Champion—a massive achievement on the international stage.

And just this weekend, nine of our swimmers represented the club at the Albany Creek Competition, walking away with huge PBs, multiple medals, and plenty of good time vibes. A special shout‑out to Ellysha, who raced in her first ever competition at Albany Creek and came away with two bronze medals—an incredible debut.

The hard work our kids (and Rolly) put in over the winter break has clearly paid off. Early mornings, extra laps, and relentless focus are turning into results, confidence, and momentum for the whole club.

This is what SWWSC is about: growth, grit, and going after your best time—no matter where you start. Keep building, keep believing, and keep swimming like the Orcas you are. The best is still ahead. 🐋💪

What a weekend in the water for our Springfield Waterworx family!

Jenna was back on the blocks at the Yeronga Park Swimming Club meet after a few weeks out with a fractured wrist, and she absolutely lit up the pool. Nervous on the way in, unstoppable once the gun went. She crushed her PBs in both the 50 Free and 50 Fly — taking a massive 1.06 seconds off her 50 Free and an incredible 3.32 seconds off her 50 Fly. That’s courage, hard work, and club spirit on full display.

And our resident master, Rolly, took things to another level at the Masters Swimming NSW Long Distance Championships in Woy Woy. Racing the gruelling 1500m backstroke, he touched first and smashed his PB by a huge 44.86 seconds. Then he backed it up in the 400m Fly, again taking the win and dropping a whopping 1:20.96 off his time. Both swims are new Queensland records — not bad for an “old fella” who just keeps rewriting what’s possible.

One club. One team. One dream. PBs shattered, records broken, and role models created in every lane. Drop a comment to congratulate Jenna and Rolly, and tag a teammate who inspires you to keep showing up and giving your best.

We’re cranking up the pool heaters and the fun at Springfield Waterworx!

From frosty mornings to steamy lanes, our squad is busy making waves, chasing PBs and having a laugh along the way. If you’ve been thinking about getting back in the water or trying something new, this is your sign.

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean Springfield Waterworx is slowing down.

Over the past two weeks, our swimmers and committee members have been out there flying the SWWSC flag with pride.

Amelia Bradley took on the 2026 Speedo Short Course Preparation Meet, achieving two personal bests in the 200IM (7th overall) and 100IM (2nd in her age group). A fantastic effort and a great reward for her hard work.

Meanwhile, Roland “Rolly” Barrett delivered one of the most memorable swims we’ve seen at the Brisbane Southside Masters 2025 Short Course Meet. Entering a relay as a team of one, Rolly swam every leg himself, progressing through knockout rounds to finish 4th overall out of 10 teams. And yes, that included racing against the likes of Cam McEvoy. By the end, the crowd had shifted their focus entirely, rallying behind the one-man relay effort in a moment that captured true sporting spirit.

Out of the pool, Springfield Waterworx was just as strong. Lifetime members Suellen Hardie (commentator) and Amanda Bedford (official) represented us with professionalism and pride at the Speedo event.

A huge congratulations to all involved. You’ve done the club proud once again.
