✨ Meet Our 2026 Queensland Country Life Showgirl State Finalist – Grace Hankinson! ✨
Please join us in welcoming Grace Hankinson, proudly representing the Gympie Show Society and the Near North Coast Sub Chamber at the 2026 Queensland Country Life Showgirl State Finals. 💙👑
Grace is currently in her first year at the University of Southern Queensland, studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Technologies, while working part-time as a Bush Regenerator. Passionate about the future of Australian agriculture, Grace hopes to combine her degree with a career in public relations, brand marketing or administration for a leading agricultural company, helping to promote and strengthen the industry she loves.
When she's not studying or working, Grace enjoys an active lifestyle. She plays touch football, trains and competes in aerial acrobatics, and is a keen Rugby Union supporter, often found cheering on her local teams from the sidelines. She also enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs and unwinding with a good book.
We are delighted to welcome Grace to this year's outstanding group of State Finalists and can't wait to see her proudly represent the Near North Coast during Ekka week.

It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of Margaret Barker, who passed away peacefully on 2 August 2026, aged 90 years.

Many of you will remember Margaret for her extraordinary contribution to the Gympie Show and the wider community. Serving as Gympie Show Secretary for 24 years, Margaret became affectionately known as “Mrs Gympie Show” due to her unwavering dedication, commitment, and tireless service. Alongside her late husband, Gene Barker, who served as Chief Ring Steward, Margaret played an integral role in the success and growth of the Gympie Show over many years.

A Funeral Service for Margaret will be held at:

St Patrick's Catholic Church
Church Street, Gympie

Monday, 10 August 2026
Commencing at 11:30am

The service will be followed by a committal at the Gympie Cemetery.

On behalf of our organisation, we extend our sincere condolences to Margaret's family and friends during this difficult time. We thank Margaret for her many years of dedicated service and the lasting legacy she leaves within our community.

🌻So proud of the Gympie Show Ag Ed Team! 🌻
Massive shout out of thanks to our wonderful Ag Ed team for volunteering their time at the Sunflower Day fundraising event held at Mooloo Farm.

They took the Ag Ed microscopes and VR headsets on tour. 🔬🧪🌻❤️

I know we are all super proud to be able to contribute to such an amazing local event.

🌟 National Volunteer Week Appreciation 🌟
What an incredible time it’s been for our community!
Fresh off another successful Gympie Show, we want to take a moment during National Volunteer Week to recognise the heart and soul behind it all — our amazing volunteers.
👏 Over 400 volunteers generously gave their time, energy, and passion to bring this year’s show to life. From early setups to late pack-downs, your dedication did not go unnoticed.
But the effort doesn’t stop there...
Behind the scenes, our committee members and executive team work tirelessly all year round planning, coordinating, and organising every detail to ensure the Gympie Show is the success we all know and love. Many of these individuals juggle full-time jobs, give up personal time, and even take annual leave just to be there — putting in long days (and nights!) during the show.
💛 This is what true community spirit looks like.
To every single volunteer — whether you helped for a few hours or months on end — thank you. Your commitment keeps this treasured local tradition alive and thriving.
