The Crowds Have Gathered! — Part 2

A massive project like this deserves an audience, and our members certainly delivered!

There is something truly special about the energy in the room when a master like Linh Khanh rolls up his sleeves. We had a fantastic turnout of members across 3 clubs who came along to witness, learn, and absorb every single step of this incredible Pine-over-Rock transformation.

From the seasoned growers taking detailed mental notes on root placement, to our newer members seeing a major creation like this take shape for the very first time, it was a masterclass in both bonsai technique and community spirit. The passion, the questions, and the shared knowledge are exactly what makes our club family so great.

Take a look through the gallery below to see some of the familiar faces who joined us for this milestone session!

Bonsai Transformation: The Rock & The Pine — Part 1

There is nothing quite like the thrill of starting a massive, legacy bonsai project! Today marks the beginning of an incredible transformation journey for this large Bonsai Pine, and we are thrilled to have the incredibly talented Linh Khanh leading the way.

This project is all about patience, vision, and precise preparation. Part 1 is officially underway, and we are focusing entirely on setting the foundation:

🪨 Preparing the Rock:
Placing a large pine over a substantial rock requires more than just sitting it on top. Linh has been meticulously prepping the rock's surface—identifying the perfect natural crevices, mapping out where the major roots will cascade, and ensuring the stability needed to support a tree of this size for decades to come.

🌲 Readying the Pine:
The pine is healthy, strong, and officially prepared for its new home. The root system has been carefully worked, keeping the vital feeder roots protected while clearing the way so it can perfectly hug the contours of the stone.

The stage is set, the rock is ready, and the pine is primed to go. Now, the real artistry begins!

Stay tuned for Part 2, where we will show the actual planting, root securing, and the first look at this spectacular Root-Over-Rock creation taking shape. You won’t want to miss it!

📸 Behind the Scenes: Artistry in Progress! 🌿

While we only managed to snap a few quick photos of some of the trees being worked on at our last meeting, we just had to share a glimpse of some incredible member trees!

There is something so special about seeing a bonsai in transition. Whether it’s a huge chop (Michael's at it again!), the careful placement of wire, structural pruning, or the early stages of styling a major new project, these moments are where the real magic happens. It’s all about patience, vision, and the shared knowledge passed around the room.

Huge thanks to everyone who brought in their trees to work on and open up for discussion, sorry we did not get photos of all of them, there were some major transformations happening! It’s the perfect reminder that bonsai is a journey, not just a destination. ✨

Happy Mother's Day to you and yours!

Headline: Celebrating the Women Who Help Us Grow ❤️ 🌱

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers and mother figures in our lives!

Just like a carefully tended bonsai, a mother's love and care require patience, dedication, and a deep, enduring commitment. They nurture us from saplings, guiding us as we find our unique shapes and weather the storms, helping us to grow strong, resilient, and beautiful.

We see so much of that same spirit of careful nurturing within our club every day. Today, we honor the incredible women who have shaped us, and the many mother figures within our own community who nurture the beauty around them, one tree at a time.

We are so grateful for all you do. Wishing you all a day filled with peace, happiness, and the beauty you so selflessly cultivate.

With love and gratitude

🌳 Fresh from the Benches: Our Latest Meeting Highlights! 🌳

We are still buzzing from our most last meeting! The talent on display for our Table Display was nothing short of world-class. It’s inspiring to see the artistry and dedication our members bring to their trees—thank you to everyone who brought a piece in to share.

Nurturing New Growth
One of the most rewarding parts of our club is seeing our Beginner Course in action. We are committed to helping new enthusiasts grow their skills from the ground up, and the success of these courses is evident in the confidence our new to Bonsai members are gaining.
There is nothing quite like seeing a beginner's passion take root and flourish!

Whether you’ve been styling trees for decades or are just picking up your first pair of shears, we’re proud to have such a supportive community.
