Celebrating 150 Years of GV Health
A wonderful milestone for GV Health, the 150th anniversary celebrations was marked with the launch of Proud to Serve – 1876 to 2026, a commemorative book that captures the rich history, people, and achievements of GV Health.
From its humble beginnings as a small hospital in Mooroopna to the multi-campus health service it is today, GV Health’s story has always been one of community, care, and commitment. Filled with fascinating stories, historic photographs, and significant milestones, this book brings to life the moments and people who have shaped healthcare across our region for 150 years.
It was a pleasure for Shepparton Heritage Centre Inc to contribute to this special celebration book through our research, archives and photos. We pass our congratulations to author Jay Bryce, Lyndal Ford, the GV Health Board, the Historical Society of Mooroopna, and the many staff, volunteers, and community members whose contributions have helped build GV Health’s remarkable legacy.
Proud to Serve – 1876 to 2026 will be available for purchased from Monday 15 June at Shepparton Heritage Centre Museum, GV Health and Historical Society of Mooroopna.
This is a proud moment for our region—and while we celebrate 150 years of history, there are many more chapters still to be written.

Shepparton Agricultural Settlement Migrant Stories Book Launch
Join us for the launch of a remarkable new publication celebrating a little-known chapter of Australian history — the Jewish agricultural settlement established in Orrvale, Shepparton in 1913.
Devorah Zmood’s compelling book shares the stories of the families who created a thriving rural community, combining farming, faith, resilience, and strong social connections for more than fifty years. Through rich historical insight and personal accounts, the book preserves an important legacy that has largely disappeared from the landscape.
Be part of this meaningful celebration honouring the enduring contribution of this close-knit community and the publication that ensures these stories will continue to be remembered for generations to come.

The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation thank you for the tributes, honour and memories of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Today we remember, First Constable Ray Denman who died in the line of duty 3 May 1964. He was just 38 years old 💙
Constable Denman was fatally shot when he responded to a call out from a distressed woman who reported that her boyfriend was armed with a shotgun and was trying to beat down her back door. Constable Denman attended and went to the rear of the house where the offender fired upon him with the shotgun, killing him instantly.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and loved ones.
In 2022 we re-dedicated the Ray Denman Short Stay Unit, which had been relocated and expanded with the re-development of the Shepparton Hospital, the unit named in his honour was funded by our Blue Ribbon Foundation Shepparton branch. It is a fitting tribute for his service and Constable Denman’s daughter, Gail, had also worked at the Goulburn Valley Hospital.
He will always be remembered.
