**New Permanent Museum Opening Hours **
🏛️ The Shepparton Heritage Centre wishes to advise our visitors, members and the wider community that, from Monday 31 August 2026, we will be introducing our new permanent Museum public opening hours.
Our ongoing work includes heritage preservation, historical research, collection management, cataloguing and the development of projects that help preserve and share Shepparton’s rich local history for future generations.

We are pleased to advise that school groups, community groups, researchers and individual visitors may still arrange visits outside our regular public opening hours by appointment, subject to volunteer availability and current workloads.

A very special thank you goes to our members, volunteers, supporters and the Shepparton community for your ongoing encouragement and commitment to the Centre. Your support enables us to continue protecting, researching and sharing the stories, records and memories that form such an important part of our community’s heritage.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Shepparton Heritage Centre during our new public opening hours and continuing to share our local history with the community.

Celebrating National History Month

As part of National History Month, some of our wonderful volunteers enjoyed a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Victorian Archives Centre in Melbourne on Saturday 25 July.

Hosted by the Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) and National Archives of Australia, the tour gave us a fascinating glimpse into the work involved in preserving more than 100 kilometres of historical records dating back to 1836.

From historic maps and photographs to important documents and stories of people from the past, it was a wonderful reminder of the history we share and the importance of preserving it for future generations.

A big thank you to the staff who welcomed us and shared their knowledge — and to our fantastic volunteers for helping keep our community’s history alive!

August is National Family History Month and there’s no better time to delve into researching your family history.

Shepparton Heritage Centre's, Heritage Research & History Hub is a community resource dedicated to exploring and preserving the history of Greater Shepparton. The History Hub offers access to extensive genealogical and historical records, research support, and expert guidance for family history and local heritage projects. As a trusted resource for researchers and the wider community, the Hub continues to celebrate and preserve the stories of families, communities, and the region, strengthening connections across generations.

The History Hub is opened Wednesday and Friday 9.00am-1.00pm or by appointment.
