Graeme and our amazing volunteers, are out and about giving their time and energy to help sell raffle tickets, raising funds for our new commercial kitchen.

You'll find us at local pubs on Melbourne Cup Day and at community events over the coming weeks. Just look for the Good in the Hood T-shirts. You can't miss us!

Please come over and say hello. We always love a chat. And if you can, we'd be so grateful if you bought a raffle ticket.

Not only could you be our lucky $10,000 cash prize winner, but every ticket sold also helps us continue providing nutritious meals and support to more than 300 local families doing it tough.

🎄 Our Christmas Hamper Drive is back! 🎄

We’re doing it again this year and aiming to put together 160 hampers to bring a little extra kindness and support to local families in our community.

We’d love your help to make it happen. If you’re able to contribute, please donate non-perishable food items and festive treats to help us fill these hampers with care.

This is what keeps us going. ❤️

Knowing that what we do makes a difference.

Every week, our volunteers show up to cook, pack and deliver meals, not just to provide food, but to help people feel cared for, valued and remembered.

Recently, one of our food recipients shared a beautiful poem about what Good in the Hood means to them.

"Any time that you can put a smile on somebody’s worried face,
You are an angel."

Their words remind us why this community matters and why we keep turning up.

To continue creating these moments, we need to build a new kitchen and cool room so we can cook, store and deliver even more meals to our local community.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the wonderful Year 3 students from Newington Wyvern Campus to Good in the Hood for a day of cooking, kindness and community.

Before rolling up their sleeves in the kitchen, Marco spoke to the students about kindness. He shared that kindness doesn't have to be something big or complicated. Sometimes it's simply doing something thoughtful and unexpected for another person. More importantly, he explained that while kindness makes someone else's day a little brighter, it also leaves you with a wonderful feeling inside.

The students were an absolute credit to their school, their teachers and their families. They listened so attentively, asked thoughtful questions, and embraced every activity with enthusiasm. They spent time cooking delicious meals, baked yummy muffins, explored the community garden, and even helped care for the chickens.

Watching young people discover that they have the power to make a difference, no matter their age, is always inspiring. Thank you to Newington Wyvern Campus for giving your students the opportunity to experience the joy of helping others. We hope they left with full hearts, new skills, and the knowledge that even the smallest act of kindness can have a lasting impact.

A huge thank you to our incredible community for making yesterday's fundraising BBQ such a success.

Thank you to TJ Meats for the delicious sausages, Sandy Bakeshop for the beautiful treats, and to all our wonderful home bakers who donated so many goodies to sell.

A special thank you to Toby, who generously gave his time and talent by playing his guitar throughout the day, filling Loyalty Square with beautiful music while helping us raise funds.

To every volunteer who gave their time, energy and smiles throughout the day—thank you. And to everyone who stopped by, bought a sausage, a sweet treat or a raffle ticket, we are so grateful for your support.

Every dollar raised will go directly towards building our new kitchen and cool room, helping us serve our community even better for years to come. Together, we're building something special. 💙
