We’re proud to have partnered with Mitchell Shire Council on a new work experience pilot. During Year 10 Work Experience Week, students from Broadford Secondary College, Wallan Secondary College and Seymour College completed placements across Council departments.

Council staff said the students fitted in so well it was easy to forget they weren’t part of the team. Students came away with real connections and a clearer view of the pathways open to them.

Thank you to Mitchell Shire Council, Jacob Stuart and the school Careers teams for making it happen.

Could your organisation host a student? Register via the School to Work Portal or get in touch with our team.

Our Executive Officer, Nicky Leitch, attended the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) Community Sector Summit in Melbourne this week, joining community organisations from across Victoria and hearing from political leaders about their priorities for the sector.

Discussions focused on prevention and early intervention, the importance of local services, and giving community organisations greater funding certainty.

These issues matter for young people, particularly in rural and regional areas across Victoria.

For 25 years, LLENs have connected schools, employers and community services to help young people stay engaged in learning and find pathways into work.

With current LLEN core funding ending on 31 December 2026, we are continuing to advocate for secure, ongoing investment to sustain this work. Local knowledge and trusted relationships take years to build, and they are especially important in rural communities.

Thank you to VCOSS for bringing the sector and political leaders together for these discussions.

25,000 Students and Counting! πŸŽ‰

Since launching in 2024, VIC VICE has now reached an incredible milestone of 25,000 student participants across Victoria.

For every student this represents an opportunity to explore careers, connect with industry and discover pathways they may not have otherwise had access to. From regional and rural communities to metropolitan schools, VIC VICE is helping young people broaden their horizons and make more informed decisions about their futures.

A huge thank you to our LLEN partners, schools and industry supporters who have helped make this milestone possible. Here's to the next 25,000 students! πŸ‘
