With fire restrictions easing from 7 April for the Mornington Peninsula, we encourage the community to check in with neighbouring properties before undertaking any burn-offs, to help minimise the risk of smoke taint during harvest.

After below-average rainfall in December, January, and February, this season is tracking differently to last year for Mornington Peninsula wineries. A cool November prior to the dry spell extended the flowering period, resulting in a later start to vintage, with picking to continue into late April at higher elevations across the region.

Fire Danger Period for the Westernport footprint will conclude on Tuesday 7 April 2026.
As you communicate this through your brigade networks and social media channels, could you please remind your communities that, while restrictions are being lifted, care and caution should still be exercised when lighting fires or undertaking any burn-off activities.
Please also note that once the Fire Danger Period ends, responsibility for the enforcement of local laws transfers to the relevant local government authority, not CFA. I have attached the applicable Community Amenity Local Law for reference, and draw your attention in particular to Part 4 - Open Burning.

A great long weekend at the Red Hill Show! 🚒
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Red Hill CFA stand to say hello, chat with our volunteers and learn a bit more about fire safety. It was fantastic to connect with so many members of the community and be part of such a great local event with the Country Fire Authority.
We appreciate all the support see you next year! 🔥👏

Weekend well spent ✈️🔥 Our juniors got an up-close tour of the airbase firefighting aircraft and learned how these incredible teams protect our communities. Big thanks to the crew for the experience! 🙌

State wide total fire ban. 🔥

Today Friday the 9th January is another total fire ban day. For the whole state. It’s going to be a hot one. Not quite as hot for us as it was on Wednesday but still quite hot.

Keep checking in with the ABC or via the vic emergency app just in case..

And have your fire ready safety plan ready!
