🎉 Happy 100th Birthday, Gerry Shepherd! 🛳️

Last night, many friends and family gathered at the Peninsula Club to celebrate a local legend and valued Coast Guard Member - Gerry Shepherd, who turned 100 last Wednesday! 🇦🇺✨

From joining the Royal Australian Navy at just 17, serving with honour on HMAS Bataan in World War II and again in the Korean War, to dedicating his post-service life to teaching, community service and supporting others - Gerry’s life has been a remarkable story of courage, heart and commitment.

He’s touched countless lives over his 100 years - as a sailor, teacher, mentor, Coast Guard volunteer, bowls club wellbeing officer and friend to so many.

His big smile and twinkling eyes are as iconic as his service, and we’re so grateful for everything he’s given to our community.

Please join us in wishing Gerry a huge congratulations on reaching this incredible milestone. 🎂🥂

Here’s to more happy moments and beautiful memories! 💛

What a way to start the long weekend! 🙌

A bit of a sleep-in, some brekkie, pottering around the house… then a casual trip down to Bunnings for a few knick-knacks and the obligatory snag. 🌭

Good news - we’re here today at Bunnings Rosebud till 4pm, and the drinks are cold & snags are hot and ready.

Come say g’day!

We’re back at Bunnings Rosebud this Saturday from 8:00am - 4:00pm.

Weather forecast is looking good 🙌🏻

Come down for a hot snag - plain or with all the condiments, onions or no onions...plus a cold drink to wash it down. 🌭

Your support helps us raise vital funds to keep our Coast Guard Safety Beach team ready to assist our community, both on & off the water.

Drop by, say hi, and enjoy a bite for a great cause.

See you there!

Coast Guard Safety Beach members Georgina Wakim and Francesco Amendola recently joined the Longwood rehabilitation works with the CFA, contributing their time and skills, as well as attending daily Incident Management Team meetings to gain experience in the AIIMS structure used across Australia.

After many months of hard work - repairing over 800 km of control lines, fences and water infrastructure, gathering information, and liaising with landholders and contractors - we’ve now been advised by the Seymour ICC Management Team that the Longwood rehabilitation works with the CFA are nearing completion, and our assistance is no longer required.

In total, seven of our members have volunteered their time on these works.

A big thankyou to Neale Hutcheon, Bruce Greenland, Colin Rees, Phil Wykes, Rocco Cambareri, Francesco Amendola and Georgina Wakim for your dedication and support.

The community spirit shown throughout the Longwood rehabilitation works has been truly heartwarming. 💛

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:30pm, our crew responded to a call-out to assist a 10m vessel with four people on board, after it ran out of fuel off Mount Martha - despite the fuel gauge still reading ¾ full.

The vessel was safely towed to Martha Cove boat ramp.

While waiting, the DV crew even managed to catch five fish! 🎣

A beautiful night with flat seas & four happy guys safely back ashore.
