We are halfway through October, and our Joint Effort challengers have clocked over 9000 minutes between them.

That’s over 9000 minutes of walking, swimming, stretching, gardening, dancing around the kitchen and so much more – every one of them logged by someone choosing to move for people living with arthritis.

Now is when they need you most - support and motivate our challengers by sponsoring their effort 👉https://jointeffort.arthritisaustralia.org.au/leaderboards

RURAL SENIORS EXPO 2026

AONT was pleased to participate in the second Rural Seniors Expo at Coolalinga Central on Friday 9 October 2026.

This year’s event featured 7 presentations in the library and more than 35 exhibitor displays in the Centre, providing a wealth of information and resources for attendees.

Lyn and the two Ruths went along to staff the AONT info stall, which was a hit with over 50 people stopping to chat, ask questions and pick up materials.

Ruth G gave a presentation on who we are and what we do. This was very popular with all 25 seats set up in the Litchfield Community Library filled!

The Rural Seniors Expo was really well attended this year so congratulations on a job well done to everyone involved in organising and contributing to the event.

The excellent attendance and positive atmosphere were a testament to their effort and commitment.

Thanks are also due to the event sponsors, COTA NT and NBN, and especially to the Litchfield Community Library for their hard work and support in delivering such a successful event.

Movement does not have to mean marathons or HIIT classes.

A slow walk, some easy stretching, or gentle swimming or walking around the pool all count toward your 30 minutes. Listen to your body, find your pace, and keep those minutes ticking over for Joint Effort.

Have you had a look at our “Exercising Safely with Arthritis” videos: https://movingwitharthritis.org.au/moving-safely-arthritis/exercising-safely/

For some people, arthritis doesn't end a career - it reshapes it. A slower pace, a different role, a path not taken. These shifts often happen without anyone else noticing.

Monash University, in collaboration with Arthritis Australia, is inviting people living with arthritis to take part in a survey exploring how arthritis impacts everyday work - from paid jobs to unpaid roles like caring, household tasks, and volunteering. It's a chance to share those real trade-offs, gently and anonymously.

Reduced your work hours because of your arthritis?

These decisions rarely make it into any conversation. They happen quietly, weighed up alone, and then life just continues around them.
