Our vision is for Lakeside Drive Community Garden to be a welcoming space where all members of the community come together to share skills, vegies and smiles. Collectively we hope to create a thriving, healthy centre for producing food, knowledge and inspiration based on permaculture ethics, principles and design.

About 20 Gebang palms have flowered in Darwin in a rare spectacle, reaffirming the local council's plans to foster a new generation of the trees.

Lakeside Drive Community Garden I'm looking forward to what we can grow together. We have the highest percentage of people coming together to garden and grow food of any electorate in the NT. We are home to Jingili Community Garden , Lakeside Drive Community Garden, Alawa Primary School and Jingili Primary School which are both part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation network.

Stay tuned for future projects about how we’re going to be connecting and working together. I love Johnston!

This lovely little fellow visits the garden most afternoons for a wash.
Now the rain has gone a small water bowl provides a water source for our small feathered friends and many insects.
In return for this small favour I get a lot of entertainment and pollinating vectors coming into the garden.

This beautiful female native Carpenter Bee ( Xylocopa sp) is busy buzzing around a native Crotalaria novae-hollandiae.
These lovely bees are important pollinators and very welcome in the garden.

The birds and insects are loving the flowers of the native Rattle Pod ( Crotalaria novae- hollandiae).
This plant is very easy to grow and provides food for birds , butterflies , caterpillars and other insects.
