Many of you would remember Northern Community CareWorks' Op Shop. With a number of additional Op Shops opening up in the last 10 years, we made the difficult decision 4 years ago, coming out of the CoVid lockdowns, to close our Op Shop. Rather than repeating what was already well covered in the community, we instead chose to fill the gap by providing free clothes to people in need through our Preston Clothing Hub. But for those who love to Op Shop, it is helpful to remember that not all Op Shops or Thrift Shops are run by or for the benefit of charitable purposes.

The Preston Clothing Hub is thrilled to introduce Olivia and Phil, our two new Clothing Hub Consultants!

Both are passionate about community and providing hope to people doing it tough.

The Hub operates an appointment-based service to provide brand new clothing completely for free to people and families facing hardship.

Not only does this impact the lives of our recipients but also helps to divert tonnes of unused fashion waste from landfill!

On Sunday, 21 December, from 6 pm to 7 pm, Northern Community Church of Christ will open its doors to those in our community who wish to join a candlelight vigil for those impacted by the antisemitic terrorist attack at Bondi on Sunday, 14 December. You are welcome to come when you can and leave when you need to. *We will have seating capacity for approximately 80 people at any given time.

Opportunity will be provided to come and spend some time in quietness, light a candle, pray, or take time for reflection as we commit to be agents of peace in our community. People of any faith or those in our community who hold no religious association are welcome.

During the time together, the Prayer of St Francis of Assisi, the theme for the vigil will be read. Mobility access is available via the Oakover Road driveway with limited off-street parking.
