Women's jobs are more exposed to automation than men's. Some research suggests women are nearly three times more likely to be in roles that AI can easily take on, because we're overrepresented in admin and routine work. (Stanford Social Innovation Review, 2025.)

And yet, in Australian workplaces, only 40% of women use AI compared to 61% of men. Just 43% of women say they trust it, versus 70% of men.

About 6 weeks ago I decided I needed to start tracking my AI investment....every hour spent learning, every dollar spent on tools and subscriptions..... because if you're going to talk about AI in business, you need to be able to back it up with data.

The whole thing took a few weeks of hands-on sessions and a lot of troubleshooting 🙃.

So back to the project, here's the condensed version of how the AI Investment Tracker was Built:

Step 1 — The brief
Needed something that worked on mobile (I record voice notes while driving) AND desktop. Had to pull live data automatically — no manual updates.

Step 2 — The backbone
Google Sheets as the database. Google Apps Script to serve the data. Free. Reliable. Connected.

Step 3 — The dashboard
Built and hosted on Netlify — a live web app showing total hours, total spend, sessions logged, tracking start date, and two category charts. All updating in real time every time the page loads.

Step 4 — The website widget
Embedded directly into the Gold Key Marketing homepage using a Wix HTML iframe — same live data, brand colours, fonts to match the site. Updates automatically every page view.

Step 5 — The social proof system
A social media campaign with real Australian statistics, live tracker data dropping into post copy, and a one-page guide for people who want to build their own.

Automated systems like these save time and become ongoing great brand stories for your business.
